This document summarizes a study that examined factors influencing underrepresented groups' participation and outcomes in agricultural research programs. The study analyzed data on 71 undergraduate students from 2003-2010, collecting information on their gender, ethnicity, geographic origin, education levels attained, and current careers. The results showed that females and underrepresented minority groups were more likely to pursue postgraduate education, while white males tended to complete bachelor's degrees. Participants from regions like the Rio Grande Valley and Salinas Valley also differed in the types of further education pursued. The researchers concluded that underrepresented group participation in research leads to higher rates of continuing education beyond the bachelor's level.
