2. Our music video compromises of
Particular points where the performance
scenes are supposed to go.
In order to achieve this look of the scenes
we had a day of production whereabouts
the artist had to be positioned in front
of a green screen.
Later onwards when the editing of these
scenes came around, we changed the
green to an image of an empty stage. We
initially had chosen it because it suits
the point of the artist performing in a
surrounding much like that one.
But later on it was decided that because
the artist was in colour and the back
ground was in black and white, it was more
appropriate to choose a background which
was in colour and one which went more
with the artist to keep up with the authenticity.
3. Even though the second background worked well with the artist in terms of suitability and
colouring, it was deemed too bright due to the stage lights and it took the attention away
from the artist performing the song. The background was changed to a similar one in
terms of the stage lighting but they were shown to be pointing downwards, away from the
artist, keeping more attention and focus on her instead.
4. The scenes in between the performance
ones reveal the everyday life of the artist
such as her social life and everyday
communication amongst everyone else.
These particular scenes were to be shown
in black and white, representing the past
as she has already done them and is
Referring back to these memories in the
form of the lyrics as they interlink with
each other.
The way that the scenes were changed into
black and white where by simply dragging
the effect onto the desired video.
5. The scene towards the end of the music
Video is the park scene in which the artist
Is shown to be picking up balloons one by
One and gently letting them go at the end.
At this specific point we intended on changing
The theme of black and white and returning it
To its original colour. The reasons for doing
This is because the lyrics that are sung
“so I go picking up the pieces” would mean
That the artist’s state of mind has significantly
Changed and she sees the world in a new
Light, the change in colour is connoting that.
And also because she sees things differently,
It is part of her present life and not her past
Life anymore.
We had done this effect using a video effect.
6. We had captured different types
of camera work such as this close
Up shot of an object being shown on
display in oxford street. This
demonstrates as to where the video’s
location is taking place as it is played
right at the start of the video.
Handheld cameras were also
used to film the artist walking
through the streets of London.
We used this because we are
being shown an insight to her life
and it gives the audience a feeling
as if they are actually there walking
With her. It also connotes the
realism of the London and the
everyday things
she endures herself into.
7. There was also editing taking place in this video. The type of editing being shown here
would be the continuity editing as the artist is walking around doing certain things.
This editing is to create a flow within the video and not to confuse the audience.
