MIND OVER MATTER OVER MIND…
The brain and the digestive tract (gut) are in constant
communication with each other.
Anything that affects the ONE affects the OTHER.
From the moment you FEEL an urge to eat, drink, smoke
or you become stressed, excited (positive or negative),
angered, frustrated or fearful, YOUR GUT KNOWS AND
FEELS IT TOO!
Are you hungry? Think about how your MIND is when you
do not eat when you are yearning for food…Irritable?
Restless? Lightheaded?

How many times have you felt your
stomach or bowels when you heard or
found out something shocking or
devastating?
How does your gut feel when you are
RELAXED and HAPPY?
THE REALITY IS THAT OUR MINDS AND
GUTS ARE COMPLETELY CONNECTED
AND INCONSTANT COMMUNICATION.
There is no actual differentiation of
the two areas of the body.

that our tiny bacterial friends

DOWN) are truly the BRAINS
of the whole operation going

DR. EMERAN MAYER, a professor of medicine and
psychiatry at UCLA comments on how the BACTERIA in
the digestive tract may help mold the brain structure as
a person grows up and even affect MOOD, BEHAVIOR &
FEELINGS when adulthood comes.
DR. STEPHEN COLLINS is a lead researcher in a team
from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, who is
finding that experiments with mice show the following:

 Replacement of GUT BACTERIA from fearless mice into anxious
ones resulted in less anxiety and more gregarious behavior.
 The converse was demonstrated as well, i.e. the transplant of
gut bacteria from the anxious mice into the fearless ones caused
the animals to become timid.
 Aggressive mice BECAME CALM when scientists altered their
microbes by changing their diet, feeding them probiotics.

DR. MARK LYTE of Texas Tech University
Heath Science Center indicates that
MICROBES are MIND-ALTERING
ORGANISMS after seeing how bacteria are
able to produce NEW NEUROCHEMICALS
that affect the brain/nervous system.
A group of scientists have tested mice that
have SIMILAR BEHAVIORS to AUTISM in
humans.
Dr. Paul Patterson at the California
Institute of Technology in Pasedena is
publishing research in the journal CELL
that demonstrates how many of the Autist
behaviors WERE ENDED or STRONGLY
AMELIORATED with PROBIOTICS.
Experiments in BALTIMORE are proceeding
to see if PROBIOTICS can help relapses of
mania in bipolar depression.

 Lack of understanding that ANYTHING that is
placed in the mouth will have a strong impact on
the body.
 All artificial and highly processed foods will ALTER
THE GUT BACTERIA IN THE MOUTH AND COLON.
 SODA and other processed liquids will do the same.
Packaged juices like orange can irritate the
esophagus and stomach linings. These products
should be ELIMINATED or significantly reduced to
“rare” intake.
INFLAMMATION OF THE DIGESTIVE TRACT HAPPENS BECAUSE…

All chocolate, coffee, tea and other
caffeine containing beverages will
affect the gut and, of course,
OVERSTIMULATE the brain and body
(remember the buzz or shakes you got
from that strong cup!!); all contribute
to anxiety if taken in more than once
a day; some people will not even be
able to take that much.
Alcohol can and will cause major
abnormalities when taken in more than
recommended (2-4 ounces of straight
liquor/day). The gut and brain are
completely affected as you well know when
you see a drunken state before your eyes!!

Cigarette smoke will inflame the mouth, glottis, esophagus and
ultimately all that is below it contributing to every possible
condition: oral/mouth diseases, vocal cord diseases, esophageal
conditions, ESPECIALLY REFLUX ESOPHAGITIS that will lead to
more severe damage, stomach conditions like gastritis, ulcers and
malignancies, bowel inflammation, ano-rectal diseases. CANCER
development of all these parts of the gut is enhanced markedly.
Both prescribed and OTC drugs like IBUPROFEN, MOBIC,
NAPROSYN, CELEBREX, ALEVE, ASPIRIN will all contribute to or
cause esophagitis and gastritis that may cause bleeding and
more. Chronic use of any of these or those in the category will
DEFINITIVELY cause one of these undesirable conditions. You
NEED to speak to a provider of health care before you think of
taking these medications on any regular basis. The RISKS to
your gut and BRAIN, in turn, are high.

 Antibiotics will alter gut bacteria; use probiotic with it if you must take
an antibiotic; take to your provider on long-term use of antibiotic
problem
 Heavy metals ingested or in the mouth from amalgamated mercury
fillings can affect gut and brain. Be alert on this and make efforts to
reduce all mercury in mouth and in diet!
 Antibacterial soaps, dishwashing detergents, etc. will alter gut bacteria.
Choose simple soaps for washing without added fragrance, chemicals.
 Household chemicals, automobile interiors and other artificial surfaces
will all affect the gut-brain connection as these substances enter the
mouth from hand contact and/or inhalation.

DIARRHEA will result if your gut is
altered and you, in turn, will feel
MISERABLE.
CONSTIPATION of the bowels means the
same for the brain. One day without
defecation is CONSTIPATION. Recall how
you felt the last time you were
constipated. Not too happy!!!
SO, if your gut is affected, your brain is as well. Your mood
can be struck down by chemicals that you are in regular
contact with. There is really no separation of the two.

THE DIGESTIVE TRACT
(and your brain) LIKES TO BE TREATED WELL!!!
 Plan all meals in a NON-STRESSED fashion.
 Choose high quality over anything.
 If you do not have quality in your “social gathering” drink
water and wait until you can get something worthwhile. It
shouldn’t be long!
 Be smart: take something fresh from home with you wherever
you go and you won’t go hungry!!!
 Do not smoke or go near a smoker

 Try not to wait long hours in between food ingestion. Your
body needs to be fed nourishing foods every 4-5 hours
unless you are ill or are completely satisfied.
 The brain requires food. Lack of nutrients will mean brain
fog, lightheadedness, inability to think straight or even
passing out.
 If you have diabetes, you know well how you must follow
the rules carefully!! Meals and snacks must happen in an
orderly way for you to control your condition and feel well.
 Take a PROBIOTIC. It can make a HUGE difference. Restore
good bacteria and your bowels and brain will be happy.
 ALWAYS remember your gut and respect how it feels.
ON DIET – KEY POINTS:
 Avoid artificial ingredients
 Reduce yeast, mold in your diet and
environment: less bread, pasta,
baked goods, fast foods, packaged snacks in
general
 Choose home made or nature made food and snacks
 Reduce ALL SIMPLE SUGARS

sprinkle on food, mix in it or have
as a side dish.

including yoga, massage, exercise in general,

 total body workout. The digestive tract and
 brain will not work effectively and efficiently
without exercise. Use that which you enjoy and

Digestive enzyme blend: choose only quality brands please; health store
is a guide for you.
EFA (essential fatty acids- OMEGA 3 should be 2x that of OMEGA 6):
choose quality brand only like BARLEAN’s, Nordic Naturals, Carolina’s,
for example.
Use a QUALITY multimineral
Probiotic capsule: as above
Add fiber supplement if you are not eating or able to take vegetables
and other plants on any given day
Antioxidant like glutathione 500mg daily, ester-C 500-2000mg a day
(may be higher for some who are tolerant of higher dosing), resveratrol

From the moment you FEEL an urge to eat, drink, smoke or you become stressed, excited (positive or negative), angered, frustrated or fearful, YOUR GUT KNOWS AND FEELS IT TOO! Are you hungry? Think about how your MIND is when you do not eat when you are yearning for food…Irritable? Restless? Lightheaded?
  • 3. 3 How many times have you felt your stomach or bowels when you heard or found out something shocking or devastating? How does your gut feel when you are RELAXED and HAPPY? THE REALITY IS THAT OUR MINDS AND GUTS ARE COMPLETELY CONNECTED AND INCONSTANT COMMUNICATION. There is no actual differentiation of the two areas of the body.

DR. STEPHEN COLLINS is a lead researcher in a team from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, who is finding that experiments with mice show the following:
