Treatment - The Electronic Weekend
Name of the show -
The name for the radio show that I have created is 'The electronic weekend'. The
name for the show is nice and simply and it informs the audience what the show
is about and what type of music the show will be playing because it's in the
name.
Summary of the show -
The 'The electronic weekend' will start at 11pm and then end at 1am, this means
that the show will be going for 2 hours. Throughout the show loads of music will
be played to make sure the audience are being entertained. Jingles will be played
throughout the show to end a song and start a new song to make sure the
audience understand that a new song has come on. Also jingles will be played to
introduce the presenter, the presenter will communicate to the audience asking
them to tweet and the shows twitter for shoutouts. The jingles throughout the
show will be upbeat to make sure the audience are always being hyped up for
the next song that is going to play. Music will be playing throughout the whole
show, even when the presenter is speaking the songs will be faintly playing in
the background to make sure the show sounds entertaining for the audience. The
presenter will talk about things like festivals etc. To make sure the audience are
being entertained. The show is all about entertaining the audience, letting them
listen to a certain type of genre of music and letting them find out songs that they
haven't heard before. By having the show played so late at night only the genre
fans will mostly listen to the radio show. Also throughout the show, there will be
a few of 'Newsbeats' that come on to make sure the audience are kept up with all
of the news around the world.
The proposed scheduling information -
The 'The electronic weekend' will start at 11pm and end at 1pm. As you can see
in the name, the show will only be played on weekends which means that the
audience are able to stay up late at night to listen to the radio show. Also the
show is on the weekends because if someone was travelling late at night they
will be able to tune into my radio show and listen to the music that is being
played on the radio show. The show will only be on throughout the whole
summer holidays to make sure the audience are always being entertained. The
radio show will be played on the 'Capital Birmingham FM' radio station because
most shows on the radio station are focused on music and that what my show is
like. Also the radio station is the number 1 music station.
Existing shows that I am competing with or are similar to -
The main competition that my show will have is youtube playlists, this is because
most people use youtube playlists to listen to their favourite music. Because my
show will be on late at night from 11pm until 1am, loads of people that enjoy
listening to electronic music might be listening to songs on youtube therefore the
show will have to get promoted to attract more people to the radio show. A show
that is very similar to my show is 'MistaJam on BBC 1xtra' this is because both of
the shows play electronic music but one thing that is very different that both of
the shows have very different schedules. Also 'MistaJam on BBC 1xtra' plays
some different music that won't be featured on my show. By promoting the
show, I feel that it might attract some audience from listening to youtube
playlists due to the fact that I will be playing some new electronic music which
the audience might like also if the audience are diving a car late at night, they will
be able to listen to my radio show.
Main musical genre featured in the show -
There are two main music genres that are featured throughout my show, these
genres are electronic and indie electronic. I will be using these two genres of
music because there are loads of good songs that aren't being put out there
therefore most of the audience will be genre fans. Other people might tune into
my radio show and listen to the music and actually enjoy it so they might stay
tuned in throughout the whole radio show. Also by having genres fans tuned into
the show, they might hear songs that they haven't heard before so they will be
able to find new songs that they can enjoy.
Outline plan for music and talk in my show -
Throughout the show, mainly music will be playing to make sure that the
audience are being entertained but there will be always some talk to make sure
that the audience are being kept up with all of the important information such as
festivals that are going on. The 'Newsbeat' will happen a couple of times
throughout the show to make sure that the audience are being kept up-to-date
with all of the news around the world. The show will always have music playing
throughout the show, this means that when presenters are speaking the music
will be playing faintly in the background to make sure they are being entertained
all the time and that the music doesn't stop. Overall, there will be more music
than talk because the show mainly focuses on playing music for the genre fans of
the music that will be playing. By having more music than talk throughout the
show, the audience will be able to be hear some new songs that they haven't of
heard before, which means that the radio show might introduce some new songs
for the audience.
Outline plan for the use of social media or other interactivity on your show -
Overall, some social media will be used throughout the show, it will be used to
communicate with the audience that are listening to my show. For example, a
song might be playing and the presenter might interrupt the song and tell the
audience to tweet to the shows twitter if they want a shoutout. Also the
presenter will read out some of the tweets. Social media will be used throughout
the show to allow the audience to communicate with people from the show.
Other types of social media will also be used to communicate and inform the
audience with different news for example, the show will have a Facebook page
which the audience can like the page and see the latest news on their walls. The
show will post information about the show on the Facebook page like what
special guests are coming on the show, updated playlists etc.
Interesting points about the sound design of the show -
There are many interesting points about the sound design of my show, first of all,
all of the jingles that are used throughout the show will be upbeat to make sure
the audience are always ready for the next song to play or for the presenter to
talk. Jingles will make sure that the audience are more entertained. Throughout
the show, there will be more than one voice due to the fact that the presenter
might communicate with the crew that are helping him to host the radio show,
also the presenter might have a co-presenter on the show with him sometimes to
talk about something trying to keep the audience entertained. The music
throughout the show will play some music from the playlist but then sometimes
some new songs might be played to entertain the audience. Music beds will
always be playing throughout the show because I don't want the music to stop
throughout the show. When a presenter starts to talk, the song that was playing
will faintly play in the background and when it does end, it will move onto the
next song, so the songs will keep on playing.
Target audience of the show -
The primary audience for the show will be between the ages of 15 - 25, this is
because most people between the ages of 15-25 will be driving a car which
means that they will be able to listen to my radio show while they are driving.
Also by having electronic music playing throughout my radio show, genre fans
might be driving home from somewhere and they will be able to tune into my
radio and listen to the music that is being played. The socio-economic grouping
would be around E/D, this is because people between the ages of 15-25 will still
be in education and some of the people within the age group might of left
education this means that they will be earning income but they won't be earning
a good amount.
The secondary audience for my radio show will around the ages of 18- 28, this is
because older people who have cars may be travelling to somewhere and they
will be able to tune into my radio show and listen to the music that is going to be
playing on the radio show. The socio-economic grouping would be D/C2/C1, this
is because most of people between the age range will have a job and some might
still be in universities or other form of education but most of the people between
this age group will be working and the higher in the age group the more money
they might be earning due to the fact that they would of been working for more
years than other people within the age group.

Music beds will always be playing throughout the show because I don't want the music to stop throughout the show. When a presenter starts to talk, the song that was playing will faintly play in the background and when it does end, it will move onto the next song, so the songs will keep on playing. Target audience of the show - The primary audience for the show will be between the ages of 15 - 25, this is because most people between the ages of 15-25 will be driving a car which means that they will be able to listen to my radio show while they are driving. Also by having electronic music playing throughout my radio show, genre fans might be driving home from somewhere and they will be able to tune into my radio and listen to the music that is being played. The socio-economic grouping would be around E/D, this is because people between the ages of 15-25 will still be in education and some of the people within the age group might of left education this means that they will be earning income but they won't be earning a good amount. The secondary audience for my radio show will around the ages of 18- 28, this is because older people who have cars may be travelling to somewhere and they will be able to tune into my radio show and listen to the music that is going to be playing on the radio show. The socio-economic grouping would be D/C2/C1, this is because most of people between the age range will have a job and some might still be in universities or other form of education but most of the people between this age group will be working and the higher in the age group the more money they might be earning due to the fact that they would of been working for more years than other people within the age group.
