UPDATE
The Companies Directors Identification Number (Amendment) Rules, 2013
As per the latest notification by Ministry for Corporate Affairs dated March 15, 2013, Companies DIN Rules,
2006 has been amended by insertion of new rule 8. The new Rule 8 give powers to Central Government or
R.D (Northern Region), NOIDA or any person authorized by R.D to cancel or deactivate the allotted DIN,
upon verification of particulars of proof attached with the application (Form DIN -1) received from any
person seeking cancellation or deactivation of DIN in the following cases:
(a) the DIN is found to be duplicate;
(b) the DIN was obtained by wrongful manner or fraudulent means;
(c) of the death of the concerned individual;
(d) the concerned individual has been declared as lunatic by the competent Court;
(e) if the concerned individual has been adjudicated an insolvent;
Before such cancellation or deactivation a reasonable opportunity of being heard shall be given the
individual/director where possible.
