related work activities that provide continuity, order and
meaning to a person’s life.”
A career is a sequence of positions or jobs held by a person
during the course of his working life.
3. CAREER DEVELOPMENT STAGES
Career development starts in the early years of schooling.
The three Stages of Career Development:
• Self Development: young people understand themselves
and the influences on them, build their experiences and
achievements and develop their capabilities.
• Career Exploration: young people locate, investigate and
consider opportunities in learning and future work options.
• Career Management: young people make and adjust
Career Action Plans and manage their life choices,
changes and transitions.
