Writing A Letter Totto chan_Alan51
1. Writing a letter
Remember the boy who was one grade above Totto-chan on page 130? He left Tomoe
Gakuen at the beginning of Totto-chan’s second year in the school.
Supposed Totto-chan had been keeping in touch with the boy through letters, you are to
imagine you are Totto-chan and you are writing a letter to him telling him about the effects
of war as you experienced it. Do remember to follow the conventions of writing a
letter. (Making Inferences)
Post your letter on the class blog.
This shall be your format:
2. My Letter:
Dear Tai-san,
How are you? Is your new school okay? It was sad to see you leave
Tomoe when you were in second grade. Anyway, have you heard
about WW2?
Due to the war my nation caused because of greed, we barely have
food! It is so scarce! And we are constantly living in fear of
bombings. Do you still remember the lunchtime rule for bringing
‘something from the hills and something from the ocean’ rule?
Because of the rationing of foodstuff, me and my parents find it hard
to satisfy the rule. And sadly, did you know they dropped English
from the curriculum because America was our enemy?
Recently, I discovered that the Japanese Government is full of
propaganda. They are trying to convince us that Japanese are the ones
to pity and not the Allies, even though we were the one who waged
war against them. I am hoping to hear from you soon.
Yours,
Totto-chan
