S.H.E. TOPIC
BE PREPARED
Drivers urged to be prepared for the heat.
Motorist’s are being advised to be prepared in the current hot weather in the event they get
caught out in the sun.
Police are warning drivers to carry plenty of bottled water and sunscreen in their vehicles in
the event they find themselves stranded while waiting for breakdown recovery.
Police advise ‘In the event you breakdown not to wait in the car but wait for recovery from a
safe distance’.
The current hot weather leaves stranded motorists at risk of serious sunburn, dehydration
and sunstroke and it pays to prepare before setting off on a journey.
In hot weather cars can also be at risk of overheating so the risk of breaking down is greater.
Before setting off you should check the vehicles oil and water and ensure you know your
roadside recovery contact number in the event you should breakdown….Don’t be caught
out.
Finally, the hot weather has seen an increase in both motorcyclists and cyclists on the roads.
Drivers are advised to allow cyclists space when overtaking.
