The Get-View cmdlet is part of VI Toolkit, and is the window to the underlying VI API. When you need to do something that isn’t available via the usual VI Toolkit cmdlets, you can use Get-View to acquire an object reference that the underlying API exposes. And of course with PowerShell natively supporting .net objects, you can then access all the associated methods and properties of those underlying objects. - Vinternals.com
