2. After researching Florence’s most popular CD covers, we noticed certain things that were a reoccurring theme and we decided we were going to incorporate these in our own CD cover: Florence uses a black border around the front of her CD covers, this maybe could show a contrast between the bright colours and flamboyant costumes of the artist. The photograph on the front of the CD cover usually mirrors the themes included in the lyrics. As the lyrics mention a lot about ‘stars and moons’ we want to incorporate this somehow in our own. Florence herself is the main attraction in the front cover so we will use the person playing our main character as the front cover.
3. Projection of forest to match our ideas for a music video. Back of the CD cover just a picture of the stars in space. The main girl laying on the bed asleep with fairy lights all around her. Symbolizing our idea of the music video being ‘a dream’ A photo of the main girl in our music video behind a projection of stars creating a magical effect. Ideas… A picture of someone’s eyes edited on Photoshop so that there's pictures of stars inside the eyes giving it a magical effect. This could symbolize the line ‘A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes.’ A photograph of the girl standing in a forest in bare feet dancing. A photo of the main character looking over a boys shoulder with stars in her eyes again. ‘I took the stars from your eyes and then I made a man…’
4. We edited the eyes in this photograph to represent the line ‘A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes’ The photograph matches the narrative of our music video Front cover idea 1 Black background contrasting with the bright colours of the eyes. We would add the artists name with specific signature font at the bottom.
5. Main character’s in the middle of the shot so the focus is completely on her. She is looking away from the camera, very similar to Florence's ‘lungs’ album cover. Front cover idea 2 We took this photograph on a projection board and used a picture of stars so we’d get the impression that the character was somewhere magical.
6. Poll – Choosing our favourite cover To help us develop our ideas further, we embedded a poll on our blog so that viewers could choose which would be most suitable for the front cover and which one was better. The poll showed that idea 2 was the better one and after agreeing that this was our favourite we knew that we could develop this further and add font and then gather ideas for the back cover, inside and the side.
