Codes & Conventions of
Advertisements
Text is kept to a minimal this allows the
audience to focus on the image which is
the focal point of the advertisement.
The choice of words ‘Nothing else
comes close’ makes people believe the
product is the best and will then want to
buy the product.
Image was shot in a studio which means
the phone can be clearly photographed
to show off its features.
The of the product brand logo is in
the bottom left corner allowing brand
exposure.

seem modern, this reflects the
product itself at it a modern
technology.
The image is in the centre of the
page. This makes the image the main
focus of attention and draws the
audiences attention straight to it.
The text is in a san serif style font
this makes it look more laid back and
relaxed which is representative of
the products target audience
(younger people)
The name of the phone is in the
bottom right corner as a logo.
Model is using direct mode of
address, this establishes a
relationship with the target
audience making them want
to have the product.
Model is sexualised in this
advertisement as she not
wearing a top, she is also
good looking, this will make
the target audience want to
look like her and therefore
buy the product she is
advertising.
Dark, plain background makes
the model and the product
the focus of the image.

produced the product is the
biggest text on the page
instantly drawing attention to
it.

shot in a studio allowing it to
be photographed in way that
the audience can see clearly
what the product is.
Plain background draws
attention the main image on
the page which is the product
The sell line on the can is
humorous which could be
representative of its target
audience which is young men.
The picture of the product was
taken in a studio this allows the

ice cold, this is the unique selling
point of the brand.

of the page and has a different
colour in it, this helps it stand out
even more on the page.
The background of the
advertisement is dark
which allows the main
focus of the image to
stand out.
No direct mode of
address is used which
is unconventional but
this could be used to
create an enigma
which draws the
reader in. The fact its
unconventional could
represent the target
audience perhaps
younger people.
The sell in is big and bold and can be
related to by the target audience
which could be sporty people as
that’s what is depicted in the
supporting image.
The logo of the brand is
in the corner of the
image but visible against
the darker background
The image shows a model
wearing the product, the
product is a very bright
colour and is clearly
visible.
The sell line is a
contrasting colour to the
background making it
stand out, it is also the
biggest text on the page
making it stand out
further instantly drawing
the audiences attention
Mise en scene has
connotations of
intelligence and class due
to the things depicted in
the image such as
computer and flowers in a
vase.
Landscape image of the
kitchen allows the
audience to feel part of
the image like they are
really there.
Sell line is playful and fun
possibly hinting at a
younger/ middle ages
demographic the fact its
playful also creates a
relationship with the
audience.
Sell line is in a san serif style
font which makes it look
more modern and is possibly
representative of a younger
target audience.
The brand of the product
shown is in the bottom right
hand corner of the
advertisement.
There is a small print on the
magazine which gives a lot
of information but the fact
its small is supposed to draw
attention away from it. The
bold text will stand out
more than the smaller text
