MICHELANGELO
Michelangelo was born on 6 March
1475 in Caprese near Arezzo,
Tuscany.
He was an painter, sculptor,
architect, poet, and engineer.
• His art work is related to Bologna,
Florence and Roma‘s culture. There the
artist's work was included in the papal
patronage.
History
• Michelangelo was born in Buonarroti
Simoni family, which belonged to the old
Florentine middle-class families. When he
was just a few weeks old, his family
moved to Florence.
• His father was the mayor, and mother died
when he was 6 years old
HOW DID HE STARTED?
• His carrer started whan he got first job in
the studio of famous painter- DOMENICO
GHIRALANDIO. One year later he worked
in another studio and lived in palace of
Medici. All of this time Michaelangelo was
learning the techniques of painting and
carving.
• In 1495 a cousin of Wawrzyniec Wielki
ordered a sculpture of. The Scuplture has
become great promotion for Rome,
because of professional approach. This
succes has
persuaded Micheloangelo to move to the
Italian capital,where he
became popular and famous.
The main theme of his works was
the human body.
FRESCO OF
MICHELANGELO
Probably the inspiration for most for his art
works comes from fascination of man body.
Italian historian - Elen Lazzarini - claims that
Michaelangelo Buonarotti was homosexual. For
example,the freco in Sistine Chapel is showing
women's body as muscular as men's man.
Maybe it sounds controversial but it's really
probable.
How to make fresco.
Affresco ( In English usage, “fresco” ).
Painting done on freshly laid wet plaster
with pigments dissolved in lime water. As
both dry they become completely
integrated. Known as “true” fresco, this
technique was most popular from the late
thirteenth to the mid-sixteenth centuries.
The common assumption that all mural
painting is fresco painting is an erroneous
idea. It is true that one can in fact paint on
fresh plaster, or intonaco, to make a
painting in affresco or a fresco. In true
fresco the artist must start applying his
colors on the wet (or fresco) intonaco as
soon as it has been prepared and laid on
the wall.
The colors can thus be absorbed by the
wet plaster. When it dries and hardens,
the colors become one with plaster.
