To test the claim that the sample has a mean greater than 85 seconds from the population, several requirements must be satisfied: 1) the sample observations must be from a simple random sample, 2) the population must be normally distributed or the sample size must be greater than 30, or both, and 3) at least one observation must be above or below 35 seconds.
