1. MRA application for photovoltaics has high probability of
success – GRTU
A €20 million scheme by the Malta Resources Authority targeting domestic photovoltaic
installations has a high probability of success, although it heavily depended on the quality of the
application submitted by authority, the GRTU said this morning.
In a statement, the president of the GRTU’s Chamber of Small and Medium
Enterprisesrenewable energy section Noel Gauci said he believes that MRA was capable of
submitting another excellent application because it had sufficient expertise and experience to do
so, and, therefore, it was highly probable that its application would again be accepted.
“This is very good news for Malta as such a scheme would boost the chances of Malta reaching
its 2020 targets, although it will be a little late for Malta to reach its target of two per cent
average by end of 2012.
“It is obviously also very good for the families who want to invest in photovoltaic panels as a
measure to lower their energy bills, and for the Maltese renewable energy sector because it
should ensure enough work for 2013 and first half of 2014.”
