Bad Habit Essay
1. Breaking or Changing Bad Habits
A habit, by definition, is an act which is repeated by a person without the individual even being
aware that they continuously display a certain behavior. There are many bad habits a person can
develop over time including; drug habits, eating disorders, and many other undesirable behaviors.
These habits can all be broken to result in positive outcomes. Many of habits considered to be bad
require a person to make specific changes in their life in order to conquer the habit in question. There
are a plethora of different steps and/or tasks that can be used to assist a person in breaking an
unwanted habit.
One of the first steps that must be completed by a person wishing to end a detrimental habit is
becoming aware of their situation. In some instances, this requires the person in question to admit to
themselves that they exhibit problematic behavior. This act of admitting to one's self that they
repeat negative acts or thoughts is essential to the elimination of their habits. With this in mind, you
have to be aware of an issue before it can be resolved. Knowing the habit is present and affecting
your life in a negative fashion is a very important step within this process.
Many people have different things in their lives that they would like to change. A step that could be
used to determine which habit to change first in their life would be to prioritize. Prioritizing is
something you can do in order to weigh the pros and cons of a situation and figure out which habit

2. Habits And Bad Habits
Everybody knows that good habits need to be cultivated while bad habits seem to grow like weeds.
Habits like self–discipline, self–control, order, and perseverance, are all habits that require a
conscious effort to create and maintain. Procrastination on the other hand, is a behavior takes no
effort at all. For better or worse, it's your habits that make or break you.
The amount of self–help information available today is virtually unlimited, but it is of little value
without first learning to direct your focus and attention. The mind moves constantly from one idea to
the next with amazing speed, rarely giving its sole attention to one subject for any length of time.
Yet success in anything depends largely on the ability to direct your mind; not only where it goes,
but also how long it stays there.
Success, like anything else, must be learned and practiced. A habit starts out as no more than a

Routines are what form your habits. Examine what is working for you and what is not. Just as with
a garden cultivating good habits will also take time and attention. You need to nurture the flowers in
your life and start pulling the weeds. If something is not working for you, get rid of it!
If you wish to be successful in anything you do, follow the clues.
Study the habits of successful people. It is the habits we create that make us who we are. One habit
all successful people have in common is the ability to focus their attention for extended periods of
time.
How do you make focus a habit? Start small and work up.
Resist the impulse to jump from one unfinished project to another. Write out a priority list and pay
particular attention to the order of that list. Do not let petty distractions interfere with working
through each task in the order you have established. When you overcome the temptation to let your
focus and efforts become scattered, you are creating the habit of finishing projects and seeing them
through to the

3. What Is A Bad Habit Essay
Everyone has bad habits. Some people smoke, some binge eat and some might even engage in
self–destructive behavior. These habits are often deeply ingrained into one's personality, to the point
of becoming the traits by which many define themselves. If you want to change the course of your
life you have to learn how to change these bad habits. Although it is an often long and difficult
process the results will allow you to succeed where you may have otherwise failed. The steps below
can help you learn how to identify, confront and eventually eliminate the habits that might control
your life.
Changing Your Habits
Your bad habits are often part of who you are. You might make excuses for them, embrace them or
even get a bit prickly when others bring them up. In reality though, these are not just habits –– they
are a failing. They might be holding you back from achieving success in business, your social life
or even love. Embracing your bad habits means simply learning how to live with what is going
wrong, but eliminating them means that you are willing to make a positive change in your own
life. There is nothing that says that this is easy, of course, but you should be willing to try it. After

life. If you fail to do so you might replace your current bad habit with one that is just as bad. Or

to change. Instead, you must consider breaking yourself of bad habits to be a journey that will

made the choices that you have made. While this is not always a pleasant experience it can help you

4. Examples Of Bad Habits
How to overcome your bad habits to achieve your success
Everyone has bad habits. It is just that some people have less of it than the others, and some
people's bad habits are more grating than those of others, but we all have them. There are two types
of bad habits: The ones you know that you have, which others cannot notice and those that you do
not know that you have, but it is well–known to everyone around you.
How can you get rid of bad habits, even if you do not know you have it? The answer is simple but
difficult: Ask someone to be brutally honest with you. You may be afraid being embarrassed, but
would you, rather everyone talks behind your back? Summon the courage and ask. Ask someone
who loves you and that has your best interest in mind. Be gracious and don't defend yourself. Just

You need to ready to let the go
Indeed, some people really want to continue with their bad habits and stick around. The very first
thing is to go deep in slamming your heart and ask, do I really want to give this up?
If your response to this is yes? Good. Then let's move on to the next step ...
2. Make a list of all the reasons why you want to stop your bad habits.
Let the list be positive and long. Start with the most very powerful and dramatic if necessary.
Memorize them, and put them in your mind.
You are making connections between quitting the bad behavior with the views of good things you
will get from doing so. If you want to lose weight, then imagine yourself thin and looking good in a
skinny jeans. If you want to stop smoking, imagine being able to kiss a woman instead of sending
you to the bathroom to brush your tooth.
3. Decide.
Once the information is gathered, it comes down to one thing, which is known as the act of the will.
Choose to do it. Say to yourself repeatedly throughout the day, I have decided to...

own choice." It's your choice. You can write your

DON 'T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR SUPPORT
Get support from family, friends, or others that have had the same habit but were able to break
away from it. Start by letting the people around you know that you are working on your habit. It 's
okay to ask the ones around you for their help. Do not ever think of asking for support as a sign of
weakness. Many will be glad and praise you in your unselfish attempt of improving yourself and
your life. If your habit happens to be the addictive kind, you might want to seek the help of a
professional. If your habit has addictive qualities they are a lot harder to overcome and usually will
require some medical treatment.
The key is to identify your habit, understand your reasons why, and then realize when you 're
doing it so you can take avoiding actions. Breaking a habit is not easy for anyone. You will feel
like giving up at times but as long as you keep a positive frame of mind and do not give up, you
will achieve your goal. There is nothing more satisfying then the feeling of accomplishment. Not
only will you feel good mentally but you 'll look good physically too.

7. Having a habit can either better or destroy one's life. Habits are considered to be things we preform
continuously which is usually something that is hard to give up. As humans, we all have good and
bad habits, it is just the size of the matter that depicts how one deals with it. I have a bad tendency
to procrastinate. This leads to the struggles of putting effort and time into certain things that deserve
it, trying to catch up on my work, and delaying my already poor writing process even more. In order
to overcome my bad habit, I need to put my own time and effort in planning out how much time I
need to spend on my assignments in order to get the best grade I can. Susan Wyche explained
procrastination and how it has good and bad sides. What I can add to the conversation of the
writing process is that procrastination has no sides but bad. Although it gives me time to figure out
what I would like to say, I cannot think of a worse thing to do than procrastinate. During my process
of writing essay one I attempted to squeeze 2–3 days of work into 1 night and it all backfired. From
prewriting like crap to a sloppy performance actually writing, I knew I had a bad habit to break. I
must prepare and prewrite to have a better outcome for my essays rather than just produce words
that sound good. Katelynn Rizzuto, a fellow classmate, explains in blog 3 how she has a bad habit

What is a habit? A habit is a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to
give up. Every person has a habit. From small, non dangerous, habits like biting nails or high pitched
laughing, to dangerous ones such as smoking, drinking, and reckless behavior. Habits can go
un–noticed by people because they vary in seriousness. Breaking habits varies greatly. It can be as
simple as not doing something in the morning, to stopping drugs and alcohol. People often pick up
bad habits in their younger years. Some habits people cannot control such as a twitch or an outburst.

Alcohol poisoning causes deaths in teens and young adults all around the world. When a person
ingests too much alcohol it poisons the body, hence the name alcohol poisoning. If someone has
alcohol poisoning they will vomit uncontrollably, have seizures, slow breathing, and no sense of
rationality or safety. When a person gets intoxicated, based on the level, it could go many ways.
They could just wake up the next morning with a hangover or die. A hangover is the feeling left
behind the day or days after being intoxicated. People experience severe headaches and/or migraines
and in some cases dehydration. Another drinking related activity that is deadly is drunk driving.
Drinking and driving kills someone every fifty–three minutes. Every fifty–three minutes a mother
and father loses their child because of an alcohol related accident. Every ninety seconds alone
someone is injured. These deaths and injuries could be easily prevented if people would think
before acting. If people would give up their keys or find a designated driver 10,000 people a year
wouldn't lose their lives. Drinking and driving takes the lives of many innocent woman, children,
and men. The road to recovery of Alcohol abuse starts with realizing you have a problem. Most
alcoholics won't admit they have a problem. They consume more alcohol to try to fix their
problems. When trying to quit people need to set goals for themselves. Set a goal to not take in more
than a certain amount of alcohol.

10. Speech About Bad Habits
We must have to admit that we all have bad habits. Bad habits are just a part of our day–to–day life.
However, some of those bad habits are not simply bad; they are worse. Knowingly or
unknowingly they take away our healthy lifestyle from us. But we are not able to understand
about that unless we reach the end spot. Ultimately, then there would be nothing left for us to do.
So this week I choose to deal with it. Let's take us a challenge that we will omit those bad habits
one by one, because it's not possible to change all of it at once. Otherwise, sudden changes may
shake up your life. Here is a list of strategy's we need to take to deal with a bad habit Quit loving it:

11. Bad Habit Disorganized
There's no shame in being a disorganized person–especially if you're actively taking steps to better
manage your time. Some of us just aren't able to keep our lives organized without external help–and
that's okay.
When deadlines creep up and you're constantly stressed out because you feel like you don't have
enough time in the day, it's time to reassess how you're organizing your day. We're here with five time
management tips to help you get your life on track.
1. Learn to Recognize When You're Being Disorganized and When You're Just Busy

Learning to recognize that your lifestyle isn't as organized as it could be is the first step to better time

2. Work out Your Priorities
In most cases, disorganized people feel like they always have too much on their plate, when in
reality they just need to prioritize what's most important. It's better to complete one or two important
tasks in your day than to leave ten tasks half–finished.
To better manage your time, recognize your priorities and stick to working through them in order.
You should always spend the most time and effort on your top priority; starting with the most
difficult tasks first will make the rest seem much easier to tackle.
When at work, this time management method could mean asking your superiors what they would
consider your most important task and then working from there. Eventually, you will learn to
recognize which tasks are most important and which ones can wait until tomorrow.
3. Learn to Say No
When you have a dozen meetings and tasks on the go, any person will find it difficult to maintain an
organized schedule. When this happens, you can say no to additional

12. Examples Of A Bad Attitude Essay
Here is a simple test to see if you've got a bad attitude. Do you see a lot more people in the world
who have a better situation than the one you were born into? Does it seem unfair that all the bad
things have happened to you and not to others? Do you feel like you got cheated somehow and that
life isn't really fair? If you answered "yes" to two or more of those questions then you probably have
a "bad attitude".
The truth of the matter is, life is completely fair to everyone. This is not something that a lot of
people like to hear. It puts the responsibility on you to act and make things better for yourself and
responsibility is not something that a lot of people are interested in. In fact, if this is something that
makes you angry to hear, you most certainly are suffering from a bad attitude yourself.
Think of the fact that life is full of challenges and tragedies. Nobody has all the answers to life or
understands the situations that others have gone through. Some people have been through worse
than others and there is always someone who has been through worse than you. Still, you can never

It's impossible to really know what others have been through and therefore impossible to judge a

verdict? Do you believe that everything has happened to you for a reason and that you want to
face your life as if it were a special gift basket of problems made especially for you to overcome?
Do you want to take on those problems with the sense that everything was purposefully placed
there just for the reason of making you into the best person you could ever be? If you are willing
to do this, you can certainly say that a bad attitude will be a thing of the past for you and there will
never be another person who can judge you for who you are. You will certainly become a person

15. Why Do We Fall Into Bad Habit Essay
Why do we fall into bad habits? Every one of us has at least one bad habit, or maybe even several.
If we know they are bad why do we keep on doing them? Perhaps, it is because we have come to
terms with failure. "Autobiography in Five Short Chapters" explains the journey on bad habits
and fixing them. Before we can change we have to put an end in blaming others, feeling helpless,
and pretending it is all going to be fine. Blaming others is much simpler than facing the problem
ourselves. However, when we start holding someone else responsible for our actions it just
becomes a tendency. In that case, at which point will we actually be held responsible. "The day
you stop blaming others is the day you begin to discover who you truly are," If do not realize our
flaws then we will never be able to fix them. The real issue is not really the things that we do, but it

not be the best of the best, but there is always going to be someone better than you in life. That
doesn't mean that you have to stop giving your all. In that case, it means that you have to work
twice as hard to get to where they are. We are all capable of achieving great things. Nobody but
ourselves is stopping us from achieving our goals. Furthermore, we have to stop pretending that
things are okay. Sure, it might just be okay but don't you want life to be memorable instead of just
okay. We can't settle for mediocre when we are fully capable of much more than that. Even though
we don't realize it, we can turn our best into something even better. Nothing is going to change if we

The Impact of Bad Habits on My Life
It is very hard for people to accept their mistakes, but the hardest part is to correct them since no

unfortunately, I am one of those who believe it. However, thinking that I am a perfect person

I am even late when I try to surprise her by having a romantic moment at home, which by the way,

no lateness is allowed. For instance, a couple of weeks ago, I missed 3 tables and a bonus of $400
because I went 20 minutes late to work; if I would have gotten early to the place I would have not
missed that money. As a result, I lost that money and got punished for a week at my job.
Then, being lazy has also caused me a lot of problems mostly at my job. Since the restaurant
business requires lots of energy, because the place may get very busy, it is very common that a
person ends up tired, but in my case, it causes me more than just being tired, making me think
about resting instead of collecting more money for my family, specially for my son's education,
since I want him to have the best one around. As a result, this problem has given me lots of losses
at work; since my lack of interest in working hard has been so constant I lost too much money,
money that could have been used for so many things such rent, home expenses and treats that I
would have loved to give to my family.

Something I learned from "Bad Habits And Your World" is that if you have a bad habit there will
always be an opportunity to turn it into a good habit. Often, people do not realize what they do
can potentially be a bad habit or is currently a bad habit for them, people can do a habit more than
once on a daily basis and will not be aware to what it is they are doing. You have to be able to
admit that you have a problem before you can move on from there to the next step to where you can
fix the lousy habit but only if you are committed to it. Once you start learning new routines or
patterns instead of your old bad habits, it will then become effortless to not think about smoking,

Do you want to be a successful person? Well, most people of course want it. But, the question is:
how to achieve success? If you think you can and if you believe in yourself, everything is
possible. Also, you need to understand that your success will depend on your habits. If you have a

most successful people do. As we all know that success is not something instant and something that
comes by an accident or by coincidence. So, here are some bad habits that most successful people
get rid of.
1. Don't work in the comfort zone
First, this is a big question: what is the most comfortable zone for you? What is the comfort zone
you have? It is defined as the "psychological state where you feel familiar and easy in control. And
it's the state where you experience the low anxiety." You don't have to strive for the constant state of

Doing some things at the same time is known to decrease the productivity. Rather than doing

increase the productivity. When doing multitasking, your focus is divided which is impossible to

19. Causes Of Bad Habits
A habit is a regular tendency or practice which one repeats over and over again that is usually hard
to break. Giving up bad habits, however, is an incredibly tough situation to be in, yet is
incredibly good for one's health. One of the most common bad habits in the world today is biting
nails. Biting your nails is extremely unhealthy for many reasons such as making your nails look
unsightly and causing permanent damage to your nails, teeth, and gums. The major health issues
that are associated with biting your nails is it can damage your nail tissue. Your nail tissue allows
your nails to grow normally, so by damaging them, you could potentially be ruining the way your
nails grow. With my mother as an example, biting your nails can ruin your teeth. It can chip or
break one or more of your teeth and overtime, can even cause serious jaw problems. On the other
hand, it can also make you incredibly sick. Because your hands are filled with germs, putting your
nails and fingers in your mouth constantly allows an easy gateway for sickness. There are many
causes to nail biting either for a male or female. The most common one is a sign of being
emotionally stressed. This is a way for people to hide there feelings by picking up a bad habit such
as biting nails. Another cause for biting nails is when your either hungry or just bored in general. It
just gives people something to do to get there mind off of there stomach growling. For being bored

different dangerous habits that affect people every day's lives in different ways.
Driving in general can be hazardous. Driving and having such a distraction as a cell phone at ear,
or ringing somewhere in a car, is ten times more dangerous. Not surprisingly, drivers who use a cell
phone while driving perceive cell phone use by others as less of a threat to their safety as do
non–users. A huge number of accidents caused by talking on a cell phone. During the last 5 years
texting has become insanely popular. It's a great and convenient tool because people don't have to call
person to just say 'ok' on that dinner invitation. The worst part is that many people still think that
