Entering English Composition Analysis
The Revision Process
Entering English Composition I, was stressful knowing I have attempted twice failing. It was still
like driving a car wearing a blindfold. Knowing I struggle with spelling and grammar, I am
determined to accomplish this class due to my personal and professional growth depending on it. I
started this English class because I needed the credit to have my two–year degree, not to become a
journalist. I have never enjoyed English, I am not one to put my feelings on paper and do not enjoy
the hours of dreading writing a long paper with a due date. I feel I am a detailed person that cannot
make it sound correct on paper. Lacking confidence plays a major role in the writing process.
Although my papers started a bit scattered,...show more content...
Determined, I can do this. Essay one and two drafts; "Redneck" and "Hurricane, Mississippi
Tornado 1971" was turned in. Looking at them now I understand both drafts were a mess. I did
not have a clue on how to research and could not figure out what to do in my revision to elucidate
my topic. With both papers being so scattered I was lost, not summarizing, or quoting sources. I
had read the research, but I did not use it to support my ideas clearly. Revising my paper, Ms.
Bowers responds that "Tornadoes" was a much better paper itself, although, I had made it to
original. I should have caught these problems while revising. While revising the drafts I should
have caught not being focused which made these papers such a mess with numerous punctuation
errors. Still confused I got out my books and notes. Finally, it "clicked" with me. I had been trying
to craft a formal paper, moderate was just what I needed. I had to clear my mind, stop stressing,
and be more focused. By doing these revisions, both essays made more sense to me. I had been
trying to reach the 1500–word limit which was causing me to write a lot of nonsense causing my
readers along with myself to get lost and lose interest. For examples in Redneck I had included a
full song, along with much unnecessary information. I had put "Hillbilly: "Southern Appalachian
person, "by 1892, from hill(n) +Billy/Billie, popular or pet form of William" (Gregory.) I was

My Struggles with English Composition Essay
My Struggles with English Composition
"...As for all the seniors, I want you to challenge yourselves this year and don't think you're going to
cruise through to graduation."–Mrs. Smith, County High School. Although some seniors in high
school refuse to take a hard schedule, I decided to take a challenging composition course my last
year of high school and learned more than ever before from it. My teacher, Mr. Bacz, focused
mostly on vocabulary, grammar, and how to right an essay. Each one of these subjects combined to
give me a year of hard work, which eventually paid off.
Since, I have always struggled in English, I thought this class was just going to be another hardship.
It's not that I ever got bad grades in English, it's...show more content...
Along with vocabulary, grammar is another area in which I had problems. For instance, I was still
getting confused about proper sentence structure. I worked on this by completing a 30 page
workbook full of different sentences to assist me. From learning verbs to compound–complex
sentences the worksheets covered it all. I was starting to realize this class and Mr. Horbacz were
all about fine tuning me for my big transition into college. The next thing I did was learn how to
organize my thoughts onto paper and write an essay. I knew how to write a basic five paragraph
essay, but my skills were limited. These are all things I struggled with at the beginning of the year,
but soon I started to grow in each area.
After the first couple of months, improvements in my school work were beginning to show, and I
liked it. My vocabulary abilities were revealing themselves as well. For example, when I would
read homework in other classes the words that would sometimes confuse me began to make sense. I
would also listen to other people's conversations on the street and it seemed as if the vocabulary
words that I had just studied the week before, could be heard. It was the weirdest thing. Likewise,
my grammar was developing nicely. For instance, when I would read books I could see the
different ways sentences were portrayed. Things that I never picked up before were coming to me
so much easier. This class that

There are many languages around the world. Nobody can control where they are going to be born.
People even cannot choose what language they spoke. People cannot choose their mother
language. Everybody can decide which language to speak as a second languages. No one wants to
leave home where they grew up and had friends. This is a very difficult decision for people.
Unfortunately, there are many situations that force people to immigrate to other countries including
religion, economics, and political situations. When people move to a new country, it is necessary to
adapt to live. First of all, they need to speak the language of the country where they moved to. Our

First of all, have to write introduction paragraph with hook and thesis. Thesis must be in the end
of introduction paragraph. Second, have to write general information paragraph. After that, to
write body paragraph. Finally, to write a conclusion, reinstate thesis and highlights of what was
learned in the paper. All information supposed to be credible, cited and MLA format. All of that
student touch in composition class. If students took only English Composition 121 without CCR
094, students do not have enough information and cannot practice as much as take both class
together. After composition class students went to CCR class where everybody learned how to
write each paragraph. The teacher give a lot of exercises to help to write assignment. Students
write the outline, it is really help to write an assignment. In the profile paper students write letters
to the person to whom write about. It is really help to make an assignment. Also, students have
MLA practice in CCR class. When students wrote a narrative assignment, everyone did outline
and dramatization exercise, in CCR class which really helpful to write a narrative assignment.
Now everyone working on Evaluation Paper. Teacher explain how to make analysis and discuss
how and why with analysis these elements add to or subtract from the overall piece. Also students
wrote elements from the song into CCR 094 class. All the work done in CCR class is very helpful

My English Composition Analysis
Throughout English composition 1 my grades have fluctuated drastically. Some papers were
surprisingly great and some have been extremely bad. Overall though I have made minor
improvements, maybe not specifically in each paper but overall as a writer I have. Although I have
not and probably will never master the art of writing I know I have made myself better just in these
past few months. This semester I faced the huge inconvenience of procrastination and over time I
learned to change my method of writing; therefore, I could manage my time more wisely and put
more effort into my papers.
In the beginning of the course as each week passed I rushed to turn in my paper before the deadline.
I took a college class last semester, Spanish 1, and like English all assignments are due at 11:59
on Sunday night. Therefore, I told myself that I had plenty of time to work on my paper. Although
I knew English required more work and effort than Spanish I still could not bring myself to work in
class. During the week at school while I was supposed to be working on my paper I found...show

I finally realized I had all week to work on my paper; therefore, I finally took advantage of my
time in class. After receiving my bad grade on my first paper I knew I needed to actually put it in
effort during the week. Throughout the second paper "The Cause and Effect of Volunteering" I
started as soon as I could and by Tuesday I had a solid outline. Then, by Friday I had a nice rough
draft finished before the end of the school day. By Sunday, all I had to do was proof read and
submit which was a major relief. My paper about volunteering taught me that time management is
key in writing efficiently. I received a 90 on the rough draft and a 94 on the final copy of "The
Cause and Effect of Volunteering." My high grade on my volunteering paper gave me hope for my
writing and motivation to work on my paper as much as I could during

English Composition Course Analysis
During my former English classes such as Introduction to College Writing and ENG Comp I. I've
learned that both composition courses focus on two different perspectives on writing. In my opinion,
I believe that my grammar has intensively expanded a lot throughout the past year I have been in
composition classes. Although, at times I had difficulties with my sentence structure. I begin to
practice writing in repetition. My writing skills are improving tremendously. I wish I would've put
effort into my writing skills before I began college level writing. My writing was probably the
most significant skill that hinders me in most of my English composition classes. But this was not
the reason why my writing wasn't up to par. I just never critique my writing in a detail way to show
that my papers are revise and well organized....show more content...
I love to write compare and contrast essays, because I find that those types of essays has a great
sense of style. Compare and contrast essays seem to be my best fit at writing. With that being said I
know this by heart because I tend to insert many topics in my writing and that is why compare and
contrast essays fit best for me when it comes down to composition assignments.
Furthermore, I'm hoping to have a teacher that provides excellent communication. I seek to enjoy
a teacher that knows how to deliver their message, lectures, and assignments without leaving any
room for questions. What I want to experience from this composition class is to continue to
develop advanced writing skills. I want to learn efficiently how to develop my writing as much
as possible to express more details in my writing as possible. I do not want to obtain nothing less
than a B grade average in ENG1270. Typically, I expect from this class is to be manageable with my
time and by me participating in a

English Composition Reflective Essay
English composition has taught me everything I know now, from how to effectively write a thesis
to grammatically fix my essay. This class fixed my writing skills to speak and write incorrect
terms. English composition gave me the edge I need to take my writing skills to next level. This
class has helped me understand the importance of documentation in a research skill. English
composition showed me that sources either make or break your essay. The true honesty of this
course was that I am glad I took it. At first, I hate this class so much, because this class required so
much extra work to be done, but over time I realized that the extra work really pushes you over the
edge to make your essay great. The extra work justifies your essay and molds

Make high school your number one priority. This reflects back on my high school journey

me are math. My personal problems did not have any certain outcome on the trends of my
transcript. I know if I put the time and effort into math it can be as easy how english is for me.
My strengths are english and history. I feel that they are easy and because I do very well on them.
My biggest area I need to approve on is math, because it's very difficult for me to learn. I passed my
english CAHSEE but not my math CAHSEE.

This is my English Composition portfolio, and it contains all the research and papers I worked on
during the semester. They're my goals and comments on how i felt I performed. The topic
proposals I had this semester were very educztional and interesting to me. My first paper was
Social Media's impact on Cyberbullying, this was an interesting topics because it's something I
always had in the back of my mind. The next couple papers having to do with field research were
more group based and not individual, so I felt like my first paper was strictly about my opinion.

Reflective Essay On English 101
Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement.
English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing,
teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and
expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build
on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and
employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader.
The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my
target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and
critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows
there's always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and
personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much
better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good
writer, but a great writer.
Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in
one direction or another. Reflecting on the many skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined
use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly

My English Composition Class
Your class, English Composition 110, has helped my further my knowledge on the various aspects of
creating a college level paper. This has been done through the numerous in–class discussions,
lectures, and finally helpful guidance that you have provided throughout the semester. As we began
this course, your introduction into the topic of fallacies not only was precise and easily
understandable, but also set the tone for this class. With that being said, the amount of
communication between yourself and the class, led to the ultimate success for those who put forth
the effort. The help of your lectures early on, led to the smooth creation of my first argumentative
paper. Without the direction given on this assignment, and many others, confusion would have taken
hold. As the final half of the semester began, your examination of how to successfully write literary
analysis's, as well as argumentative research papers, essentially led to the proper formulation of
each. I am most appreciative that you gave this class the opportunity to thoroughly research issues
within our major, due to the amount of knowledge I was able to gain, both in this class, and for

My experience throughout English 101 Essay
My Experience throughout English 101
As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest
potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic
requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my
professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for
some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me
with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101
taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was
required.
In the...show more content...
Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense.
Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember
having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was
looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading
critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;"
(Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand
what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by
my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to
convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays.
Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish
writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to
write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one
type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several
other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my
style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what
matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and

English Composition Course Reflection
During the semester of English Composition, I have grown into a stronger writer. Through
writing different pieces such as descriptive and persuasion topics, the ideas have been created
through words. Due to this class, I have felt to become a more confident writer going into college.
By achieving the curriculum, developing new ideas and describe new topics, I have learned to
achieve in this course. Progressing through the semester, I have developed into a strong writer. By
doing so, I have created new ideas and aspects to my writing in a different way. For example,
discovering new topics through the database and understanding the importance of the audience.
Through this progression, I have developed new research methods such as understanding a database.

By understanding formatting, sentence structure and style, the course improved my abilities to
succeed in English Composition. Assuming the obvious of writing essays, I concluded that the course
was more than that. By emphasizing on topics and different types of writing, I have understood the
importance of context and information found in my writing. Through my learning outcomes, the time
and effort into every topic was much worth the reward. By understanding new aspects to my
writing, I have achieved the reward of a creative writer. Overall I have achieved immensely
throughout the course. With my new found confidence in my writing, I take these skills into
college and beyond. Through school work and job opportunities I understand how context and
audience are essential to develop a new idea or persuade. From vaguely understanding the
importance of context and the audience, I have developed a clear understanding to focus on these
topics. By organizing ideas found through a reliable source, I have found the confidence to be able

My Experience Of English Composition
My experience in English Composition 1 this semester has been a tough one. From day one, I
knew that this class was not going to be a "walk in the park", so I tried to prepare myself for what
was to come. Throughout this semester, I have recognized my strengths as well as my weaknesses ,
and I still continue to struggle with a lot of them to this day. Through it all, this class has been a
journey that has taught me a lot. When we first began to write our descriptive essay, my confidence
level was sky high. I thought that my writing skills were fairly decent, and I was not worried about
having too many mistakes. However, after seeing the grade that I made, my confidence level
dropped ,and I was not so self–assured like before. With the help of my instructor, I was able to
recognize my mistakes first off. The major problem in my descriptive piece was grammatical and
mechanical errors such as subject/verb agreement and incorrect usage of commas. Throughout my
entire paper, these were the most common mistakes found. I went home, analyzed my paper, and
found some websites on the Internet that helped me correct these issues. As well as she found
things in my paper that were incorrect, she also pointed out my strengths. She applauded me on my
excellent descriptive details, sentence structure, and vocabulary usage and noted that I did a great
job describing the food using sensory and vivid details that made my paper cohesive. Our next big
paper was the research piece. Not once

This semester I learned many new things in my English 1301 class. I took this class last year but
I had to drop it because I didn't have a professor explaining the work to me. And I really didn't
understand what I was doing. At first, I was scared to take this class. During my high school years I
wasn't that good of a writer. I thought this composition class was going to be hard since I sometimes
thought it was hard in high school. My writing experience was good and sometimes bad. This
semester in the composition class I had many writing strengths and weaknesses. These strengths and
weaknesses is what helped me learn the errors I was making while writing essays this semester. My
first writing weakness was deciding what to write about. I...show more content...
I was really happy that I didn't have trouble filling up those pages. This contributed to my essay
writing because it showed me that if I don't give and try my best I will be able to do it. It also
showed me to always think positive, if I'm always thinking of negative stuff I won't be able to set
my mind free and try my best in the stuff I do. Another strength I had was finding the symbols in
the short story ВЁThe LotteryВЁ. When I first read it I didn't find any symbols. After Mrs.
Philpott gave us the lesson on symbolism in literature I found many symbols. I also saw how
those symbols give the readers clues so we could get a clue of how the ending is. I won't forget
about this lesson and when I read books I'm going to pay close attention to the words. If I pay
attention to that maybe I will get a taste of how the ending is going to be. This was one of the
lesson I enjoyed the most. This contributed because this is something I'm going to know for the
rest of my life. The third writing strength I had was that I didn't have trouble with the quotes. We
had a lesson over how we had to add the quotes on the essay. That lesson helped my mind refresh
from what I had learned during high school. I wasn't completely lost on this, but had to pay
attention. I was a little scared because it said that if I plagiarized I would get a zero and possibly
fail the semester. I personally think that we the writers don't really try to plagiarize. The only thing

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to

I then described my life and who I was. After describing this, I explained my experiences in
confronting racism. The point of the essay was to state that racism is still alive and can be present
anywhere. After writing this essay, I learned that my mechanics and style was not where it should
be. Even with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics
and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several spelling mistakes. I looked to improve
my mechanics after writing this essay.
With writing my review essay of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's album The Bigger Artist. The essay
took some time to write because of the research I needed to gather. In this essay I used more
citations and quotes. I made mistakes the mechanics in writing the quotes. This was the first essay
in which we used sources, so it was challenging to create my own ideas but I was able to do it.
Writing this essay improved my knowledge of mechanics in citations and quotations.
Through taking the course, I learned to utilizes sources in a more efficient way. In writing my
analytical essay of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly I had to use ten sources. All the sources
I used provided different information, some provided more than others, but all sources were
needed to complete the essay. In collecting all the information for the essay, I had to research who
created the source and decide if it was credible. This essay assignment force me to examine works in

Personal Experience: English Composition Course
Focusing in self– evaluation to improve the learning process, help me to set goals and be aware of
my own mistakes. When the English Composition course started, I wanted to be able to express
my thoughts and my ideas in an effective way. The continuation of my education was very
difficult, and I began to doubt myself when faced with the first couple of weeks. My first
assignment was my most difficult assignment, and I found myself having trouble sticking to a
thesis, because I had so many ideas that I did not know how to organize, and that was the primary
purpose of taking this course, to learn to make my writings more organized. I choose three
assignments out of the six, which were not only my favorite assignments; they are all written in
classical perspective. I prefer to write in classical perspective so I may get my personal opinion to a
specific audience. As I wrote each assignment I described my past experience as if I was speaking to
a group telling my story. Writing with emotion as I envisioned my past experiences and how I can
get my audience to feel as I felt was my goal. I wrote in classical perspective in the interest of
writing my personality and voice, but it also shows how I perceive my audience. By changing the
structure and organizing my thoughts I was able to shape the overall character of my work. In all
three assignments I wrote in first person point of view. I choose first person view so I can express a

My experiences in this six–week English Composition–I class have been challenging and rewarding,

extenuating circumstances have kept me from attending every class, it has been a pleasure sitting

The book covered subjects such as: composing and revising, academic writing, sentence style, word
choices, grammatical sentences, ESL challenges, punctuation, basic mechanics, researching, MLA

sub–sections, which have quickly led me to the information needed. The experience I have gained
from this book has caused me to realize there is a detailed and meticulous system to being a good
writer. It seems almost impossible to be a perfect writer with all of the rules involved. Perfection
or not, the manual is a guide to being the best writer possible. The detailed look into process

have learned from the study of process analysis are: to recognize the desired product of the process
analysis; to put together a thesis that clarifies my attitude towards the process; keeping the audience
in mind; utilizing basic prewriting to identify the best route to take in organization; identifying the
directional and informational aspects of process analysis; explaining the process one step at a time;
making it easy for the readers to follow the sequence of the analysis; establishing the right tone
throughout the process; and, how to open and close the process analysis effectively. My experiences

how to write different varieties of writing, have strengthened. After partaking in this course, I am
confident I have met the student learning outcomes. After completing my first college level English

I have improved my grammar through feedback from my instructor, and workshops I participated in.
There is a significant difference between my writing conventions from the beginning of the year to
my present writing conventions. In my second essay, The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life, I have
noticed many writing convention errors. In this essay I said, "Also with the lack of technology, they
were influenced to be more adventurous and get out of the house and explore things on their own"
(The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life) This sentence is a prime example of faulty sentence structure; it
lacks punctuation in the right places. My third essay, Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors, has less
errors and shows improvement on these writing conventions. Improvement can be seen in the
sentence, " Euthanasia should not be legal because it is not morally correct, undermines medical
research, and denies patients the final stage of growth"(Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors). This
shows development on sentence structure, punctuation, and helps gives my essay a polished look.
Without this, errors I may have previously made would be even more

English Composition Essay Examples

  • 1. Entering English Composition Analysis The Revision Process Entering English Composition I, was stressful knowing I have attempted twice failing. It was still like driving a car wearing a blindfold. Knowing I struggle with spelling and grammar, I am determined to accomplish this class due to my personal and professional growth depending on it. I started this English class because I needed the credit to have my two–year degree, not to become a journalist. I have never enjoyed English, I am not one to put my feelings on paper and do not enjoy the hours of dreading writing a long paper with a due date. I feel I am a detailed person that cannot make it sound correct on paper. Lacking confidence plays a major role in the writing process. Although my papers started a bit scattered,...show more content... Determined, I can do this. Essay one and two drafts; "Redneck" and "Hurricane, Mississippi Tornado 1971" was turned in. Looking at them now I understand both drafts were a mess. I did not have a clue on how to research and could not figure out what to do in my revision to elucidate my topic. With both papers being so scattered I was lost, not summarizing, or quoting sources. I had read the research, but I did not use it to support my ideas clearly. Revising my paper, Ms. Bowers responds that "Tornadoes" was a much better paper itself, although, I had made it to original. I should have caught these problems while revising. While revising the drafts I should have caught not being focused which made these papers such a mess with numerous punctuation errors. Still confused I got out my books and notes. Finally, it "clicked" with me. I had been trying to craft a formal paper, moderate was just what I needed. I had to clear my mind, stop stressing, and be more focused. By doing these revisions, both essays made more sense to me. I had been trying to reach the 1500–word limit which was causing me to write a lot of nonsense causing my readers along with myself to get lost and lose interest. For examples in Redneck I had included a full song, along with much unnecessary information. I had put "Hillbilly: "Southern Appalachian person, "by 1892, from hill(n) +Billy/Billie, popular or pet form of William" (Gregory.) I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Struggles with English Composition Essay My Struggles with English Composition "...As for all the seniors, I want you to challenge yourselves this year and don't think you're going to cruise through to graduation."–Mrs. Smith, County High School. Although some seniors in high school refuse to take a hard schedule, I decided to take a challenging composition course my last year of high school and learned more than ever before from it. My teacher, Mr. Bacz, focused mostly on vocabulary, grammar, and how to right an essay. Each one of these subjects combined to give me a year of hard work, which eventually paid off. Since, I have always struggled in English, I thought this class was just going to be another hardship. It's not that I ever got bad grades in English, it's...show more content... Along with vocabulary, grammar is another area in which I had problems. For instance, I was still getting confused about proper sentence structure. I worked on this by completing a 30 page workbook full of different sentences to assist me. From learning verbs to compound–complex sentences the worksheets covered it all. I was starting to realize this class and Mr. Horbacz were all about fine tuning me for my big transition into college. The next thing I did was learn how to organize my thoughts onto paper and write an essay. I knew how to write a basic five paragraph essay, but my skills were limited. These are all things I struggled with at the beginning of the year, but soon I started to grow in each area. After the first couple of months, improvements in my school work were beginning to show, and I liked it. My vocabulary abilities were revealing themselves as well. For example, when I would read homework in other classes the words that would sometimes confuse me began to make sense. I would also listen to other people's conversations on the street and it seemed as if the vocabulary words that I had just studied the week before, could be heard. It was the weirdest thing. Likewise, my grammar was developing nicely. For instance, when I would read books I could see the different ways sentences were portrayed. Things that I never picked up before were coming to me so much easier. This class that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. English Composition Class There are many languages around the world. Nobody can control where they are going to be born. People even cannot choose what language they spoke. People cannot choose their mother language. Everybody can decide which language to speak as a second languages. No one wants to leave home where they grew up and had friends. This is a very difficult decision for people. Unfortunately, there are many situations that force people to immigrate to other countries including religion, economics, and political situations. When people move to a new country, it is necessary to adapt to live. First of all, they need to speak the language of the country where they moved to. • 4. My English Composition Analysis Throughout English composition 1 my grades have fluctuated drastically. Some papers were surprisingly great and some have been extremely bad. Overall though I have made minor improvements, maybe not specifically in each paper but overall as a writer I have. Although I have not and probably will never master the art of writing I know I have made myself better just in these past few months. This semester I faced the huge inconvenience of procrastination and over time I learned to change my method of writing; therefore, I could manage my time more wisely and put more effort into my papers. In the beginning of the course as each week passed I rushed to turn in my paper before the deadline. I took a college class last semester, Spanish 1, and like English all assignments are due at 11:59 on Sunday night. Therefore, I told myself that I had plenty of time to work on my paper. Although I knew English required more work and effort than Spanish I still could not bring myself to work in class. During the week at school while I was supposed to be working on my paper I found...show more content... I finally realized I had all week to work on my paper; therefore, I finally took advantage of my time in class. After receiving my bad grade on my first paper I knew I needed to actually put it in effort during the week. Throughout the second paper "The Cause and Effect of Volunteering" I started as soon as I could and by Tuesday I had a solid outline. Then, by Friday I had a nice rough draft finished before the end of the school day. By Sunday, all I had to do was proof read and submit which was a major relief. My paper about volunteering taught me that time management is key in writing efficiently. I received a 90 on the rough draft and a 94 on the final copy of "The Cause and Effect of Volunteering." My high grade on my volunteering paper gave me hope for my writing and motivation to work on my paper as much as I could during Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. English Composition Course Analysis During my former English classes such as Introduction to College Writing and ENG Comp I. I've learned that both composition courses focus on two different perspectives on writing. In my opinion, I believe that my grammar has intensively expanded a lot throughout the past year I have been in composition classes. Although, at times I had difficulties with my sentence structure. I begin to practice writing in repetition. My writing skills are improving tremendously. I wish I would've put effort into my writing skills before I began college level writing. My writing was probably the most significant skill that hinders me in most of my English composition classes. But this was not the reason why my writing wasn't up to par. I just never critique my writing in a detail way to show that my papers are revise and well organized....show more content... I love to write compare and contrast essays, because I find that those types of essays has a great sense of style. Compare and contrast essays seem to be my best fit at writing. With that being said I know this by heart because I tend to insert many topics in my writing and that is why compare and contrast essays fit best for me when it comes down to composition assignments. Furthermore, I'm hoping to have a teacher that provides excellent communication. I seek to enjoy a teacher that knows how to deliver their message, lectures, and assignments without leaving any room for questions. What I want to experience from this composition class is to continue to develop advanced writing skills. I want to learn efficiently how to develop my writing as much as possible to express more details in my writing as possible. I do not want to obtain nothing less than a B grade average in ENG1270. • 6. English Composition Reflective Essay English composition has taught me everything I know now, from how to effectively write a thesis to grammatically fix my essay. This class fixed my writing skills to speak and write incorrect terms. English composition gave me the edge I need to take my writing skills to next level. This class has helped me understand the importance of documentation in a research skill. English composition showed me that sources either make or break your essay. The true honesty of this course was that I am glad I took it. At first, I hate this class so much, because this class required so much extra work to be done, but over time I realized that the extra work really pushes you over the edge to make your essay great. The extra work justifies your essay and molds Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Trends i see on my transcript are my english classes i took i get good grades. For me easiest classes for me are english. The hardest classes for me are math. My personal problems did not have any certain outcome on the trends of my transcript. I know if I put the time and effort into math it can be as easy how english is for me. My strengths are english and history. I feel that they are easy and because I do very well on them. My biggest area I need to approve on is math, because it's very difficult for me to learn. • 9. Reflective Essay On English 101 Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there's always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer. Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in one direction or another. Reflecting on the many skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly defining Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My English Composition Class Your class, English Composition 110, has helped my further my knowledge on the various aspects of creating a college level paper. This has been done through the numerous in–class discussions, lectures, and finally helpful guidance that you have provided throughout the semester. As we began this course, your introduction into the topic of fallacies not only was precise and easily understandable, but also set the tone for this class. With that being said, the amount of communication between yourself and the class, led to the ultimate success for those who put forth the effort. The help of your lectures early on, led to the smooth creation of my first argumentative paper. Without the direction given on this assignment, and many others, confusion would have taken hold. As the final half of the semester began, your examination of how to successfully write literary analysis's, as well as argumentative research papers, essentially led to the proper formulation of each. I am most appreciative that you gave this class the opportunity to thoroughly research issues within our major, due to the amount of knowledge I was able to gain, both in this class, and for future marketing courses....show more content... While these skills will help me in future English classes, they will also aid the making of any paper I prepare for my time at Old Dominion. Not only have you taught numerous tactics to better my writing as a whole, but you have also taught lessons I can take with me throughout life. With the help of persistent due dates, whether they are large formal papers, or just simple discussion boards, I was able to grow as a person due to the increase of responsibility this course required. • 11. My experience throughout English 101 Essay My Experience throughout English 101 As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101 taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was required. In the...show more content... Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense. Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;" (Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays. Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. English Composition Course Reflection During the semester of English Composition, I have grown into a stronger writer. Through writing different pieces such as descriptive and persuasion topics, the ideas have been created through words. Due to this class, I have felt to become a more confident writer going into college. By achieving the curriculum, developing new ideas and describe new topics, I have learned to achieve in this course. Progressing through the semester, I have developed into a strong writer. By doing so, I have created new ideas and aspects to my writing in a different way. For example, discovering new topics through the database and understanding the importance of the audience. Through this progression, I have developed new research methods such as understanding a database. By understanding formatting, sentence structure and style, the course improved my abilities to succeed in English Composition. Through my learning outcomes, the time and effort into every topic was much worth the reward. By understanding new aspects to my writing, I have achieved the reward of a creative writer. Overall I have achieved immensely throughout the course. With my new found confidence in my writing, I take these skills into college and beyond. Through school work and job opportunities I understand how context and audience are essential to develop a new idea or persuade. From vaguely understanding the importance of context and the audience, I have developed a clear understanding to focus on these topics. • 13. My Experience Of English Composition My experience in English Composition 1 this semester has been a tough one. From day one, I knew that this class was not going to be a "walk in the park", so I tried to prepare myself for what was to come. Throughout this semester, I have recognized my strengths as well as my weaknesses , and I still continue to struggle with a lot of them to this day. Through it all, this class has been a journey that has taught me a lot. When we first began to write our descriptive essay, my confidence level was sky high. I thought that my writing skills were fairly decent, and I was not worried about having too many mistakes. However, after seeing the grade that I made, my confidence level dropped ,and I was not so self–assured like before. With the help of my instructor, I was able to recognize my mistakes first off. The major problem in my descriptive piece was grammatical and mechanical errors such as subject/verb agreement and incorrect usage of commas. Throughout my entire paper, these were the most common mistakes found. I went home, analyzed my paper, and found some websites on the Internet that helped me correct these issues. As well as she found things in my paper that were incorrect, she also pointed out my strengths. She applauded me on my excellent descriptive details, sentence structure, and vocabulary usage and noted that I did a great job describing the food using sensory and vivid details that made my paper cohesive. • 14. This semester I learned many new things in my English 1301 class. I took this class last year but I had to drop it because I didn't have a professor explaining the work to me. And I really didn't understand what I was doing. At first, I was scared to take this class. During my high school years I wasn't that good of a writer. I thought this composition class was going to be hard since I sometimes thought it was hard in high school. My writing experience was good and sometimes bad. This semester in the composition class I had many writing strengths and weaknesses. These strengths and weaknesses is what helped me learn the errors I was making while writing essays this semester. My first writing weakness was deciding what to write about. I...show more content... I was really happy that I didn't have trouble filling up those pages. This contributed to my essay writing because it showed me that if I don't give and try my best I will be able to do it. It also showed me to always think positive, if I'm always thinking of negative stuff I won't be able to set my mind free and try my best in the stuff I do. Another strength I had was finding the symbols in the short story ВЁThe LotteryВЁ. When I first read it I didn't find any symbols. After Mrs. Philpott gave us the lesson on symbolism in literature I found many symbols. I also saw how those symbols give the readers clues so we could get a clue of how the ending is. I won't forget about this lesson and when I read books I'm going to pay close attention to the words. If I pay attention to that maybe I will get a taste of how the ending is going to be. This was one of the lesson I enjoyed the most. This contributed because this is something I'm going to know for the rest of my life. The third writing strength I had was that I didn't have trouble with the quotes. We had a lesson over how we had to add the quotes on the essay. That lesson helped my mind refresh from what I had learned during high school. I wasn't completely lost on this, but had to pay attention. I was a little scared because it said that if I plagiarized I would get a zero and possibly fail the semester. I personally think that we the writers don't really try to plagiarize. • 15. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Personal Experience: English Composition Course Focusing in self– evaluation to improve the learning process, help me to set goals and be aware of my own mistakes. When the English Composition course started, I wanted to be able to express my thoughts and my ideas in an effective way. The continuation of my education was very difficult, and I began to doubt myself when faced with the first couple of weeks. My first assignment was my most difficult assignment, and I found myself having trouble sticking to a thesis, because I had so many ideas that I did not know how to organize, and that was the primary purpose of taking this course, to learn to make my writings more organized. I choose three assignments out of the six, which were not only my favorite assignments; they are all written in classical perspective. I prefer to write in classical perspective so I may get my personal opinion to a specific audience. As I wrote each assignment I described my past experience as if I was speaking to a group telling my story. Writing with emotion as I envisioned my past experiences and how I can get my audience to feel as I felt was my goal. I wrote in classical perspective in the interest of writing my personality and voice, but it also shows how I perceive my audience. By changing the structure and organizing my thoughts I was able to shape the overall character of my work. In all three assignments I wrote in first person point of view. I choose first person view so I can express a more personal, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Considering this is a college level English class, and a subject I struggled in, my worries were not at ease. Throughout the year, my understanding and comprehension of the writing process, as well as how to write different varieties of writing, have strengthened. After partaking in this course, I am confident I have met the student learning outcomes. After completing my first college level English class, I would be expected to meet four student learning outcomes. One of those being I could use rhetorical devices to strengthen my essays. I have improved my grammar through feedback from my instructor, and workshops I participated in. There is a significant difference between my writing conventions from the beginning of the year to my present writing conventions. In my second essay, The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life, I have noticed many writing convention errors. In this essay I said, "Also with the lack of technology, they were influenced to be more adventurous and get out of the house and explore things on their own" (The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life) This sentence is a prime example of faulty sentence structure; it lacks punctuation in the right places. My third essay, Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors, has less errors and shows improvement on these writing conventions. Improvement can be seen in the sentence, " Euthanasia should not be legal because it is not morally correct, undermines medical research, and denies patients the final stage of growth"(Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors). This shows development on sentence structure, punctuation, and helps gives my essay a polished look. Without this, errors I may have previously made would be even more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
