IoT expansion: As the internet continues to grow globally, more people are
connected than ever before in human history. The connection isn't always
person-to-person. Rather it is person-to-device. This is the main factors for a
digital marketer to focus.
In addition to our mobile phones, other devices such as amazon’s echo and
Roku are taking over the marketing world, providing a platform where marketers
can spend.
Video Marketing: Video Marketing is another trend that cannot be ignored.
According to Forbes, by 2019, more than 80% of all internet traffic will be video
related. As internet bandwidth increases in conjunction with more devices being
able to play streaming video content, the potential for more marketing material
to be produced in video formats is accelerating.
Machines are Getting Smarter: With the help of data analytics
and mining, companies have a greater understanding of web
users and their traffic. Using this data allows them to produce
marketing material that is suited best to capture users’ attention
and clicks. As the machines get smarter and process more of
our data, they have a better understanding of where and when
consumers will go to next on the web.
With camera and phone technology getting better, the advance
of augmented reality in the marketing space can’t be ignored.
Companies such as Facebook and Snapchat have provided
customers with innovative and fun ways to interact with products
and services, prominently displaying logos and mascots, all with
the goal of gaining wider exposure and attention to their brand

1. Chatbots: 2018 will see chatbots move into more industries
with more complex transactions. This type of instant response is fast
becoming a consumer expectation, so it is well worth thinking how
your organization can utilize this software.
2. Search Engine Factor: Search is a very important traffic source
for most websites.Voice search has been around for a couple of ye
ars now, but there are two interesting developments. Voice activatio
n arrives or Voice search through devices such as the Google app
or assistants like Amazon Echo is tending to deliver longer-tail quer
ies than text search and the number of voice searches is likely to in
crease in 2018. Secondly, Google revealed Google Lens in October
where you can show your camera a, say, poster and Google will se
arch for the text and images within that poster. If this gains traction,
this will truly be a game-changer for search.
3. Brands start realizing mobiles role in next-gen CX: By day by
day mobile users are growing and its the best medium you can
target the users, as a communication channel, support and service
mechanism, purchasing tool and more. According to Forrester's
research 2018 mobile predictions, a marketer needs to put more
emphasis on understanding how next-generation customers are
interacting with brands effectively.
4. Re-establishing consumer trust is vital: Trust between brands
and consumers in 2017 was at an all-time low according to market
researchers, by the consumer's trust flow marketers will need to
win back consumer trust by owning brand value up high and offering
a more personalized, distinct and authentic experience
5. Expect great things from artificial intelligence and machine
learning :
According to research artificial intelligence (AI), used by marketers
will grow more than 50 percent in the next two years. Gartner
predicts 20 percent of all business content will be authored by
machines in 2018. With AI at the forefront, marketers will be better
able to understand the likes and dislikes of a customer, determine
what specific branded content should be served to that consumer,
and track all their interactions through the customer's journey.
6. Twitter may fall while LinkedIn rises: According to the
study, Twitter has failed to grow its user base in 2017. as twitter
tried to revive its reach by expanding its traditional 140 character
limit to 280 characters. But this effort’s success has not yet be
seen. However this platform is more akin to Facebook or LinkedIn
in how many characters it allows, and it will likely suffer because
of that.
Twitter also focused mainly on user acquisition in 2017, rather on
making progress to its ad platforms. As a result of this marketers
are investing in Twitter and investing in other social media
platforms to reach their audiences.
Whereas in LinkedIn has made various transformations creating
B2B and B2C brands. Instagram has around 800 million users
each month.
7. Brands Will Invest Heavily in Influencer Marketing: Influencer
marketing is playing a major role in branding a product or services in
2017 as it will grow in 2018, according to the survey 85% of marketers
planned on executing at least one influencer marketing campaign in
2017. whereas in clothing and beauty brands have had great success
with using micro influencer and major celebrities for a while. And now
major global brands are lining up on getting influencers.
8. New Advertising Formats Will Circumvent Ad-Blocking
Technology:
100 million consumers in the U.S will be ad-block users in 2020,
up from 44 million in 2016. according to study, this will add up to
more than 12 billion lost in display ad revenue in 2020.
Google is working on a chrome tool that mutes autoplay videos,
which might be good news for consumers, but not such great
news for advertisers.
9. Live video usage and viewership will continue to soar
