A test was conducted on 10 samples of a rocket propellant binder to determine the melting point. The average melting point was 154.2F with a standard deviation of 1.5F. A hypothesis test was run to determine if the true mean melting point was 155F or not equal to 155F with a significance level of 0.01. The p-value and type 1 error were calculated and the sample size needed to achieve an alpha of 0.1 if the true mean was 150F was determined.
