• Importing data into Oasis Montaj
• Basic operations on database channels
• Gridding of simple data.
• Basic operations on grids.
3. Opening new or existing
Project
Project file include links to all databases, grids and
maps. Oasis Montaj adopt this kind files so that all
previous analysis are recorded for further analysis
or interpretation. Remember, at the end of session
you need to make sure that you saved all your
work to the project file opened.
4. We have two
options under
project menu item,
New and Open. If
you are starting
from scratch you
choose “New”
otherwise, choose
“open”. Clicking any
of the two will
result in opening a
file manager
window (next slide).

7. It is recommended to open new directory of
your new project. Transfer your data files to
that directory save your work (e.g. database,
grids, maps …etc.) their. It is also
recommended to make backup for that
directory each time you carry out analysis
and modeling within your project to avoid
loss of your work.

9. Q. What does “database” mean?
a usually large collection of data
organized especially for rapid search
and retrieval (as by a computer)
10. Q. What are the kinds of data I can import into Oasis
Montaj?
Any data that can be tabulated in the
form of columns can be imported to
OM. The file format can be ascii,
Spreadsheet (excel), databases …etc. In
addition some industry standard
formats like AMIRA and SEGY can also
be imported.
14. ASCII files is a plain text file that can be
generated, edited using any text editor such
as notepad.
Data should be tabulated into columns with
separation like space, tab or comma.
16. This option defines how
the data in the ascii files
are arranged. For
example, the headers,
the text separation and
the data type (e.g.
numbers, date …etc)
After defining the data in the file you may save this definitions into template files, if you have other files
with similar formats. For subsequent file readings you use the template option instead of wizard.
