He had graduated in Electrical Engineering from NIT, Durgapur in 1983. Initially he spent 7 years as the in-charge of an Electrical Distributrion (O&M) Sub-division of WBSEB. Thereafter he worked in the State Load Dispatch Center of West Bengal for 18 years. His retirement is due in November 2021. He has also interest in Renewable Energy.
