2. INTRODUCTION TO BHEL
BHEL is the largest engineering and
manufacturing enterprise in India in energy
related infrastructure sector today. BHEL was
established more than 40 years ago. When its
first plant was set up in Bhopal ushering in the
indigenous heavy electrical equipment industry in
India, a dream which has been more than
realized with a well recognized track record of
performance. It has been earning profits
continuously since 1971-72 and achieved a sales
turnover of rupees 6347crores with a pre tax
profit of rs294 crores in 2000 to 2001.

5. CA12E HANDY CALIBRATOR
• Manufacturer – Yokogawa.
• Used for calibration of
thermocouples and
RTDs.
• Can be used as either
Source or sink.

6. THERMOCOUPLE
A thermocouple is a thermoelectric temperature measuring device
formed by welding soldering or merely pressing two dissimilar metals
together in series to produce the thermal electromagnetic force (e),
when the junction is at the different temperatures.

7. RTDs
RTDs are passive sensors requiring an “excitation” current to be
passed through them. The RTD is normally manufactured through a
known resistance typically 100 ohm at ice point. It has positive
temperature of resistance. Commonly pt-100 is used.

8. Contactor
• Used to make or break connection at low
voltage.
• It can have a combi-
-tion of NO or NC
Contacts.

9. On – Off Controller
• It is used to maintain the value of process variable near specified set point.

11. Circuit Breaker
• SF₆ (Sulphur Hexafluoride).
• Used to switch
high voltage.
• SF₆ is used to arrest
the arc generated
while switching.
• It takes 0.1 ms to switch
between connections.

12. Pressure Switch
• It’s a mechanical device, used to make or
break a electrical connection.
• A spring is used to provide the pressure limit.
• The excess pressure is
released through outlet.

13. Header
• Header is used to install the measuring
devices.

14. Heat Exchanger
• Heat exchangers are devices in which heat is transferred
between two fluids at different temperatures without any
mixing of the fluids.

• A condenser is a device or unit used to
condense a substance from its gaseous to its
liquid state.
