Launching the news website 234NEXT.com in December of 2008 was the
culmination of 30 years in journalism in Africa, Asia and America. At
Timbuktu Media where I was then director and head of editorial strategy
234NEXT was the herald to the weekly NEXT on Sunday, which came two
months later in January of 2009. After six grueling months, a daily paper
version was on the streets. My supervisory and managerial role included all
aspects of hiring, motivating and developing news content and supervising
production of a staff of 200.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Broke the story on a secret island prison, Nigeria’s RobbenIsland
established by the military government off the coastof Lagos. (Locked away
in an Island Prison, The Guardian 19...) The prison was immediately closed
following the publication.
First major interview with Emeka Ojukwu who led the secession of Biafra
that culminated in the Nigeria Biafra Civil War.
First Nigerian journalist to interview Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan
As editor of The Guardian on Sunday published major stories challenging
the military government of the day, including uncovering the use of Nigeria
as a dumping ground for toxic waste shipped from Europe. (Toxic Waste
Dump in Koko)
