Fears
You know when you're home alone, it's already dark and you hear a noise?
You start to make up scenarios in your head of how there's people in your house. That's what fear
can do to you, make you paranoid and over think every little situation.
Everybody has fears; whether they'd like to admit to them or not. To each is own on why they won't
admit to them but to me everybody in their right mind as at least one fear. Fear is such an unpleasant
emotion that is all caused by something or someone that can be some type of danger to you or if
you nothing about it's capability. People can be afraid of anything, the most common fears are
Death, for the unknown of what comes after you die or the unknown of how you're going to die and

What's my biggest fear ?
Well if I am completely honest I have a handful of fears but my biggest fear would be my future and
the future of my generation. Anything associated with the future causes me to worry and a stir of
panic to strike through my heart or it can causes me to have an indifferent response and not want to
do anything that can help my future self.
My generation, it has its flaws and it's rebellion against the previous generations traditional way of
going about things. Which is understandable because name what generation that hasn't gone through
that, to make a better future for the rest of humanity. But my generation is making the change for
the worse. Have you turned on the news lately ? What good, supporting all of mankind material
have you heard while watching the news? None. Politically, we have a bigot and a pathological liar

How Fear Affects Us
fear
Л€fir/ noun
1.an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to
cause pain, or a threat.
Fear is an emotion or thought that is strange and at times indescribable, but often felt in our
everyday lives. It is the profound feeling you get when you feel as if you are being threatened with
danger or when you feel that something bad is going to happen. At times, fear can keep you from
succeeding or doing what you need to do; it can limit the abilities you have and cause you to
procrastinate or make reckless decisions. Anxiety is also another factor of fear, and it is when
people are randomly afraid of something, but don't know why they're scared. Fear is an
unpleasant and disliked emotion, but at times it is good for people and their safety. Our brain is
always looking out for things that can harm us and when detected, it prepares us so that our bodies
to avoid danger. In situations where one does not feel any fear, it may endanger them by making
one choose to do irresponsible things and make wrong decisions that could lead into self injuries.
Therefore, fear is a good factor to have and although it is something awful to feel, it helps you in the
incidents needed most.
Being afraid of something is when a threatening moment occurs, and our brain is triggered with a
stimuli to feel fear. It's when the cells in the brain create a chain reaction starting with a stressful
stimulus, then ending with a

Descriptive Essay On Fear
An unpleasant emotion or feeling caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous,
likely to cause pain, or a threat : Fear. Fear is a strong word, it can mean a variety of things and lead
to a variety of things depending on who you are. My fear caused me to shake and tremble as if the
world was coming to an end. It makes me feel safe around no one. I look back on my life and ask
myself, was it all worth it for this? It makes me shrink and fall the size of of a humming bird. My
stomach starts to feel like it never has before. My head is spinning in circles and my hands are
trembling to the point where I think they might fall off. Fear, my fear was heights and I was
terrified of them. Of course, I hadn 't always been afraid...show more content...
I started getting into other fun things to do that didn 't involve going high up and it worked life
was still good without being high up. And I knew was going to be okay because it not like I had to
go anywhere high up, but that where I was wrong...
The summer of 2016 was the year my parents wanted to do a family trip somewhere and I was so
excited because today was the day they were gonna tell us where we were going. I was hoping
somewhere warm like the beach or some sporting event like a Cavs game or something of that
relation. My parents voice then interrupted my thoughts and I heard the words Cedar Point and I
thought my heart stopped. For those of you who don 't know Cedar Point is one of the biggest
roller coaster parks in the world or an other words for someone who is afraid of heights Cedar Point
equals death. When parents told me my heart skipped a beat, at first I didn 't say anything and my
parents were confused I guess they expected me to be excited. But the thing was I never really told
my parents about this new recent fear I had because I knew that if I did I they would for sure make
fun of me. So I tried to play it off and act like I was a little excited. After explaining the details of the
trip to me and my sisters, my parents told me I could bring a few friends so I guess that made the
trip a little bit better. So I called up some of my friends and they said they would be ready to go the

My Fear- Personal Narrative Essay
My Fear– Personal Narrative Every child, teenager and adult has experienced anxiety, fear or
worry at some time in their lives. Everyone has their own phobias. Some are just temporary
whereas others just linger, haunting them forever. Life allows us each of us to experience
challenges in our own way. But when these challenges become almost impossible to complete,
they become long term problems. When faced with fear, one looks for the easiest route out, but
in my case, there were no signposts. There is one part of my life that I vividly recall. I don't really
know when or how it started. Maybe I'd had it all my life or maybe it developed at a certain age.
Perhaps, that will remain an unsolved...show more content...
I didn't know why this was happening and felt that I had no control over my thoughts or fears. By
this stage, I would have persistent nightmares of my house burning down where everyone in the
building would escape, with the exception of me. I remember how I felt after being awoken by
the fear of death. It was a feeling of confusion and I didn't know why this was happening. My
phobia totally disabled me and at the time I found it difficult to relax. I live alone with my mum
and she was unaware of what I was secretly going through. At the time, I never really opened my
eyes to the fact that I had a problem. I told myself that it was just a phase and that I was fine but
deep down I think I always knew that this was untrue. Another habit of mine was counting
syllables of words. Whenever I would see a shop sign I would count the syllables of the words
written and would ensure that the number of syllables did not exceed sixteen (my favourite
number). One evening, a friend of mine had visited my home for dinner and I could do nothing
but worry about the food overcooking and causing a fire. It would not leave my mind and was all
that I could think of. That is when I noticed that my actions were odd. I almost immediately logged
on to the internet and searched for fire related obsessions.

Definition Essay On Fear
When in a frightening situation, such as being scared for a biology test, or having a burglar break
into your house, you react using fear. It is a healthy fear because when someone is scared they
know they need to react to the threatening issue. This healthy fear can become unhealthy if it is too
strong. When recalling past incidents and injecting them into the current situation, this is an
unhealthy fear because it changes how people will behave towards something or someone after
being scared once before. Fear always follows right behind the corner and is one step ahead and is
different for each individual. Everyone has fears, whether they want to or not. It gives them an
unpleasant emotion they can't get rid of unless they face it. Even...show more content...
A fear is so much more than just being afraid of a tiny spider. That is only the beginning. From
growing up people learn how much life can be a challenge to them. In order for them to overcome
those challenges they need to overcome their fears first to set them aside and focus on other
issues rather than debating to go for something or not because they may miss out on something
then and regret it later when it was just their fears standing in between them. What's hard is a fear
never goes away after overcoming it, another one may come. People don't know when or what it
will be, but after overcoming one they know they can do it and aren't as afraid for the next test
coming their way. Now for some people it is still truly hard to overcome their fears, which is okay
because everyone has a long list, but if they don't learn now eventually the list will become
unhealthy and they're going to be stuck inside because they have ophthalmophobia, the fear of
seeing someone or anyone seeing them. People cannot let fears take over they need to take over their

Essay on Phobias
Phobias
Fear is a normal and an important human reaction to something dangerous, it keeps one out of
danger, because fear is disliked and one tries ones best to avoid the object or situation of fear. It
causes physical changes known as fight–or–flight reaction, which causes blood pressure to increase
and the heart rate to speed up to pump blood to the large muscles used to run away, to balance this
the human body has sweat glands which produce perspiration to cool the body.
Usually young people experience more fear than adults do (Metcalf).
When one has a fear of something, one normally does not spend much time thinking about it, and it
only affects one when one is forced to confront it. Just about everyone is afraid of something,...show

However, phobia can even cause people to risk their health. For example, the fear of dentists can
leave people suffering from it willing to risk the health of their teeth in order to avoid having to go
through an exam or procedure ( MacKay). When one knows about an upcoming confrontation, it
can be the reason why one can not sleep or finds it hard to focus on important tasks. Due the change
in daily routine, this unrealistic fear can interfere with the ability to socialize, work, or go about
everyday life, brought on by and object, event or situation. But even animals have anxieties and
phobias just as every human being (www.phobia–help.de). A phobia is an irrational fear, one knows
that the object or situation, one is scared off, can not hurt one, but one is still afraid. A reason for
this is that the human mind can not distinguish what is real and imaginary. When one has
uncontrollable anxiety attacks, he loses rational judgement, leading to complicated problems.
However, anyone can develop a phobia, men and women, teens and young adults, and elderly lady
or a one–year–old boy (MacKay). Thereby it is not completely clear, what the causes for phobia
are. Phobia is often caused by something scary that happened earlier in somebody's life, but not
every one develop phobias after special experiences. An explanation for this could be that for some
people certain parts of the brain and specific neural pathways are associated with phobias. It is

Fear. Such a strong emotion that many of us feel everyday. Without fear the world would be a
disaster but with it can make someones life a disaster. There are many people in today's society
that let fear over rule them. These people let the fear over rule their whole life, making them not
able to go outside because they are absolutely terrified by what is out that door. Then, there are
people that are fearless, that rush into a burning house because they literally are not scared. One
could say that most of the population is about right between those two lines. Fear can sneak up on
one from out of no where and make you lock up. There is literally a fear for everything so one
should not be distraught if something odd should intrigue fear on them. For example, I am scared
of spiders. I have literally always been scared...show more content...
Fear is often related to our social peers. Fear can hit one like no other when there are all the social
pressures on one, making them collapse. The social pressure can be unbearable and strike fear
into almost anyone. For example, all your friends are trying marijuana. They keep repeatedly
telling you to try it and it'll be cool if you do. You don't know what there smoking, but then again
you don't want to lose them as friends. This can strike someone down with fear because they have
no clue what to do. For another example there is always the opinion of others. Especially for a
high school student. Other children can be downright ruthless, making fun of what you wear,
look like, or even how you smell. These aspects can make one even scared to go to school. These
kids strike you down with more and more opinions every day causing you to be more scared of
school everyday. This is just like the physical fear, you have to stand up for yourself, because if
they see they can do it once they're not going to just stop. You have to stand up and say i don't care

Essay on The Emotion of Fear
Fear Do all living things fear something? Those with minds surely have many and various fears,
but even the simplest organisms must have fear, for fear is such a powerful feeling. Fear is all
around us and is felt in every corner of the earth. Fear is the emotion or feeling that a living
creature gets when its physical or mental life is interrupted by a change that causes the creature
concern. We humans especially, fear many different things: death, disease, old age, commitment,
noises in the night, pain, responsibility, work, being too fat or too thin, or any number of other
things. Some of our fears are reasonable and rationale, like the fear for our safety so we lock our
doors at night, never walk alone on dark streets, and...show more content...
Change, the process of all growth and life, is greeted generally with a feeling of fear. Fears seem
to sneak up on us, drenching us in sweat sending our heart rate rocketing, leaving us quaking and
shivering. Some fears we see coming and our body and mind prepare to fight or flee. We
understand those kinds of fears and can use rational thinking , stress reduction, and plan our
actions to combat those fears. Various things help reduce our sense of helplessness, which is a
common emotion experienced with fear. One of the things we fear the most is the loss of or lack
of control. Even if we really don't have control, we like to think we do, and when we lose that
sense of control, fear rushes in. For example, an alcoholic will say " I can quit any time; I'm in
control." The fear comes when he realizes for the first time that he is an alcoholic and that he is not
in control. We all fear uncertainty and the unknown. We arm ourselves against it with candles in the
dark, or faith against the uncertainty of death. Then, when we think we've conquered our fear, it
comes invading our minds again, let in by a smell or a taste, a sound or a thought Fear is always
there, just waiting right under the surface, to awaken those memories which frighten us the most.
Fear can come anytime in the silence of the night or in the bright glare of the day. Fear cannot be
conquered. We

Definition Essay On Fear
Fear. The number one emotion that runs most of our lives. No matter how many times we try to
avoid it, it just seems to keep coming back. Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses and she
definitely knows what it's like to feel fear. As she has stated many times, some of the toughest roles
she's played in films began with the feeling of fear. She would read a script and think to herself,
"Wow, I'm scared to take this role. I don't know if I can do this." That thought, however, is exactly
what led her to do it and as is turns out, the roles she feared the most turned out to be her best and
even earned her many high profile awards, including the ultimate Academy Award.
Kate said this entry's quote when she was fearfully climbing a mountain on the adventure reality
television show, Running Wild with Bear Grylls. These words of wisdom talk about how it's a
good thing when a person feels fear if it involves going after something he or she really wants. It
means that person is facing that fear and when a fear is faced, it's being challenged. Fear will not
go away permanently until we keep challenging it and getting past it. Although it may seem like it
goes away when you decide to not take a risk, it's only temporary. It's still locked in your core
waiting to come out again the second you encounter another risk that you really want to take. If
we're not feeling fearful, we're not doing something that is worth the risk....show more content...
That fear stems from the natural fight or flight reaction our body has to protect us from serious
harm. The fear I'm talking about is the fear that we learned as children. It's the fear we learned
from society and the situations we had to go through. It's the fear that brainwashes our minds and
tells us we aren't worth that risk, that we will fail. This is an unnatural fear and whether we know it
or not, it rules our lives in many

Reflection About Fear
Failure is a lesson everyone will learn from, but the fear of falling into the same traps that others
around me have can make or break me. Temptations such as drugs, not graduating or not being
financially stable is a fear of mine. Not everyone thinks of these things, they just go day by day
and live unaware of their circumstance. But when you acknowledge the fact that there are
problems you're one step closer to finding a resolution. This isn't a problem everyone faces, it's just
a thought that might have lingered one time or another throughout life. With all honesty I believe
the environment in which a person lives can have an effect on their chances to succeed in life.
How determined you are to beat the odds, to avoid drugs, focusing on school, and live within
your means might determine if you face the problem of what many calls "the struggle". Drugs
can become very addictive and while seeing the affect it has of some of the people I love made
me fear becoming them because I face most of the problems they face the idea of wanting to be
numb the thought of needing something or someone more than what I provide is a scary feeling.
I imagine what it's like the musty odor of unwashed skin, reeking of weed smoke with a mixture
of burnt plastic. Seeing the coming and going of half a man all skin and bones feeling the pain of
everyone in the room. You become consumed by the next fix I seen it happen to the best of people.
Not only can drugs become a trap but not

Fear Personal Essay
Fear
Fear is an emotion produced by the brain to avoid a potentially bad situation or it is also anxiety
caused by the presence of danger. Fear is caused by a threatening situation. Winston Churchill once
said, " The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself." This famous saying shows that fear affects
people as much as they let it affect them. The way I deal with my fears is to try to overcome them
or not let them get to me. But it's not always easy. I'm 16 years old, and I still can't dangle my feet
over the edge of the bed in the dark. How pathetic. I know that big hairy hands with strong
knuckles will grab my brittle ankles and drag me down to a black hole of terror. Of course, this is
never a conscious thought when my foot...show more content...
No creature is comfortable with change as the saying goes "better the devil ya know than the
devil ya don't".There is huge fear in change. But we humans especially, fear many different things
maybe that is wrong to say and I only think that because I am human and haven't studied the fears
of other creatures but lets just go with it. For example; death, disease, old age, commitment,
noises in the night, pain, responsibility, work, being too fat or too thin, or any number of other
things. Some of our fears are reasonable and rationale, like the fear for our safety so we lock our
doors at night, never walk alone on dark streets, and turn on lots of lights to keep the boogie man
away. We all can remember the boogie man from our childhood! He's a great one to scare the
children! But we also fear for our health so we diet, exercise, and eat only healthy foods. Our fears
can also help us make wise decisions: where to live, what to do with our money, how to raise our
children, even what kind of car to drive and whether or not to drive it. They can be helpful too
and if they weren't there something bad could really happen. Personally terror gives us boundaries
that we don't like to wonder from. Our fears may be sudden like when your kid brother jumps out
behind you and yells 'boo'. People's fears can be built up over a long period of time. I certainly know
some of my weird ones' are.

Persuasive Essay About Fear
"Don't be scared," is a phrase we are constantly told. I heard it after running into mom's room as a
kid, terrified after waking up from a scary dream. And when I was nervous before taking a big test.
And a thousand other times. It's ingrained into us our whole lives since we were born. Our
immediate reaction to feeling fear now is to bury it. We've trained ourselves to be ashamed of that
part of us. It can be isolating, until we learn to open up. Everyone experiences fear, it's a part of
being alive. But that fear doesn't have to stop us. It's okay to be afraid, but we shouldn't let it stop
us from experiencing life. The truth is, everyone is scared. Whether that fear controls you is what
defines you.
I used to let fear dictate how I lived my life. As someone with an anxiety disorder, I was constantly
avoiding the things that made me afraid. For years I didn't speak in school. It got to the point
where I was used to hearing people say things like, "I've never heard you talk before," or "I
thought you were mute." I was too scared of rejection or saying something dumb or not having
anything to say at all that I didn't. I let that fear control me. And because of it, I didn't have friends.
Finally, I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to be held back by anxiety or fear anymore. I
thought I could pretend to be fearless like how I thought everyone else was. But it turns out, other
people aren't as fearless as they seem.
Freshman year I auditioned for the school musical,

Fear is a feeling induced by experience, perceived danger, or watching a frightening traumatic
accident. The fear responses arise from the perception of danger and ultimately a change in
behaviour, such as fleeing, or hiding or from perceived traumatic events. Every person has fears and
different fears may be different adaptations that have been useful in our evolutionary past. I have
fears too, and sometime, I feel embarrassed to intersperse my fear with others. My fear is
Lepidopterophobia, which is the word for fear of butterflies. Many times I have been letting others
know about my fear and they always thought it was very funny because butterflies are very small
and beautiful. However, I have reason to fear it. My fear has happen since

Essay on Fear: Why Are We So Afraid?
"Being frightened is an experience you can't buy." We are a society that adores fear. We thrive off of
it; creating horror movies, shows like "Fear Factor", and the media in general are only a few
examples. At the same time there are people who are afraid to leave their house and are possibly
restricted to a single room. So what is fear? What is the purpose of being afraid? Why is it that
some people will run and scream when they see a snake while others collect and breed them for
their love of these majestic reptiles?
Fear is a feeling we have all dealt with at one time or another. It is something that we first
experience as children, and are conditioned to respond to in many different ways. In a controversial
experiment in...show more content...
Fear can also refer to general anxiety, as in Arachnophobia "fear of spiders" or Claustrophobia
"fear of closed in areas." These fears occur not automatically from a present or looming danger,
but instead a perceived threat, which to some can be just as scary. As said in a German proverb,
"Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is." For most people fear is a horrible and sickening feeling,
which it can sometimes be debilitating.
Fear is what shows us how to be careful, because self–protection is primitive. Therefore, it is safe to
suggest that we may be afraid to travel into an unlit cemetery for fear of being hurt by something
unknown. What could this unknown factor be? A ghost? Perhaps, but these fears are unreasonable.
Although this fear of ghosts and other things was established when we were young, the fear never
goes away. For we fear being physically hurt in any manner. Fear is a natural thing; it is indeed what
keeps us safe and secure. Fear is not a logical thought, but rather an irrational emotion.
When a fear is not validated by the presence of actual danger or a threat, or by a realistic cause, and
when it is also associated with a continuing evading of the circumstances, which lead to it, it is
called a phobia. Phobias occur in several forms. A phobia is a recurring, impractical, paralyzing fear
of a specific

Essays On Fear

  • 1. Definition Essay On Fears Sara–Marie Fears You know when you're home alone, it's already dark and you hear a noise? You start to make up scenarios in your head of how there's people in your house. That's what fear can do to you, make you paranoid and over think every little situation. Everybody has fears; whether they'd like to admit to them or not. To each is own on why they won't admit to them but to me everybody in their right mind as at least one fear. Fear is such an unpleasant emotion that is all caused by something or someone that can be some type of danger to you or if you nothing about it's capability. People can be afraid of anything, the most common fears are Death, for the unknown of what comes after you die or the unknown of how you're going to die and Heights because...show more content... What's my biggest fear ? Well if I am completely honest I have a handful of fears but my biggest fear would be my future and the future of my generation. Anything associated with the future causes me to worry and a stir of panic to strike through my heart or it can causes me to have an indifferent response and not want to do anything that can help my future self. My generation, it has its flaws and it's rebellion against the previous generations traditional way of going about things. Which is understandable because name what generation that hasn't gone through that, to make a better future for the rest of humanity. But my generation is making the change for the worse. Have you turned on the news lately ? What good, supporting all of mankind material have you heard while watching the news? None. Politically, we have a bigot and a pathological liar ( in my opinion ) running to be our next commander in chief, the person Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. How Fear Affects Us. Fear How Fear Affects Us fear Л€fir/ noun 1.an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Fear is an emotion or thought that is strange and at times indescribable, but often felt in our everyday lives. It is the profound feeling you get when you feel as if you are being threatened with danger or when you feel that something bad is going to happen. At times, fear can keep you from succeeding or doing what you need to do; it can limit the abilities you have and cause you to procrastinate or make reckless decisions. Anxiety is also another factor of fear, and it is when people are randomly afraid of something, but don't know why they're scared. Fear is an unpleasant and disliked emotion, but at times it is good for people and their safety. Our brain is always looking out for things that can harm us and when detected, it prepares us so that our bodies to avoid danger. In situations where one does not feel any fear, it may endanger them by making one choose to do irresponsible things and make wrong decisions that could lead into self injuries. Therefore, fear is a good factor to have and although it is something awful to feel, it helps you in the incidents needed most. Being afraid of something is when a threatening moment occurs, and our brain is triggered with a stimuli to feel fear. It's when the cells in the brain create a chain reaction starting with a stressful stimulus, then ending with a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Descriptive Essay On Fear An unpleasant emotion or feeling caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat : Fear. Fear is a strong word, it can mean a variety of things and lead to a variety of things depending on who you are. My fear caused me to shake and tremble as if the world was coming to an end. It makes me feel safe around no one. I look back on my life and ask myself, was it all worth it for this? It makes me shrink and fall the size of of a humming bird. My stomach starts to feel like it never has before. My head is spinning in circles and my hands are trembling to the point where I think they might fall off. Fear, my fear was heights and I was terrified of them. Of course, I hadn 't always been afraid...show more content... I started getting into other fun things to do that didn 't involve going high up and it worked life was still good without being high up. And I knew was going to be okay because it not like I had to go anywhere high up, but that where I was wrong... The summer of 2016 was the year my parents wanted to do a family trip somewhere and I was so excited because today was the day they were gonna tell us where we were going. I was hoping somewhere warm like the beach or some sporting event like a Cavs game or something of that relation. My parents voice then interrupted my thoughts and I heard the words Cedar Point and I thought my heart stopped. For those of you who don 't know Cedar Point is one of the biggest roller coaster parks in the world or an other words for someone who is afraid of heights Cedar Point equals death. When parents told me my heart skipped a beat, at first I didn 't say anything and my parents were confused I guess they expected me to be excited. But the thing was I never really told my parents about this new recent fear I had because I knew that if I did I they would for sure make fun of me. So I tried to play it off and act like I was a little excited. After explaining the details of the trip to me and my sisters, my parents told me I could bring a few friends so I guess that made the trip a little bit better. So I called up some of my friends and they said they would be ready to go the next Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Fear- Personal Narrative Essay My Fear– Personal Narrative Every child, teenager and adult has experienced anxiety, fear or worry at some time in their lives. Everyone has their own phobias. Some are just temporary whereas others just linger, haunting them forever. Life allows us each of us to experience challenges in our own way. But when these challenges become almost impossible to complete, they become long term problems. When faced with fear, one looks for the easiest route out, but in my case, there were no signposts. There is one part of my life that I vividly recall. I don't really know when or how it started. Maybe I'd had it all my life or maybe it developed at a certain age. Perhaps, that will remain an unsolved...show more content... I didn't know why this was happening and felt that I had no control over my thoughts or fears. By this stage, I would have persistent nightmares of my house burning down where everyone in the building would escape, with the exception of me. I remember how I felt after being awoken by the fear of death. It was a feeling of confusion and I didn't know why this was happening. My phobia totally disabled me and at the time I found it difficult to relax. I live alone with my mum and she was unaware of what I was secretly going through. At the time, I never really opened my eyes to the fact that I had a problem. I told myself that it was just a phase and that I was fine but deep down I think I always knew that this was untrue. Another habit of mine was counting syllables of words. Whenever I would see a shop sign I would count the syllables of the words written and would ensure that the number of syllables did not exceed sixteen (my favourite number). One evening, a friend of mine had visited my home for dinner and I could do nothing but worry about the food overcooking and causing a fire. It would not leave my mind and was all that I could think of. That is when I noticed that my actions were odd. I almost immediately logged on to the internet and searched for fire related obsessions. • 5. Definition Essay On Fear When in a frightening situation, such as being scared for a biology test, or having a burglar break into your house, you react using fear. It is a healthy fear because when someone is scared they know they need to react to the threatening issue. This healthy fear can become unhealthy if it is too strong. When recalling past incidents and injecting them into the current situation, this is an unhealthy fear because it changes how people will behave towards something or someone after being scared once before. Fear always follows right behind the corner and is one step ahead and is different for each individual. Everyone has fears, whether they want to or not. It gives them an unpleasant emotion they can't get rid of unless they face it. Even...show more content... A fear is so much more than just being afraid of a tiny spider. That is only the beginning. From growing up people learn how much life can be a challenge to them. In order for them to overcome those challenges they need to overcome their fears first to set them aside and focus on other issues rather than debating to go for something or not because they may miss out on something then and regret it later when it was just their fears standing in between them. What's hard is a fear never goes away after overcoming it, another one may come. People don't know when or what it will be, but after overcoming one they know they can do it and aren't as afraid for the next test coming their way. Now for some people it is still truly hard to overcome their fears, which is okay because everyone has a long list, but if they don't learn now eventually the list will become unhealthy and they're going to be stuck inside because they have ophthalmophobia, the fear of seeing someone or anyone seeing them. People cannot let fears take over they need to take over their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay on Phobias Phobias Fear is a normal and an important human reaction to something dangerous, it keeps one out of danger, because fear is disliked and one tries ones best to avoid the object or situation of fear. It causes physical changes known as fight–or–flight reaction, which causes blood pressure to increase and the heart rate to speed up to pump blood to the large muscles used to run away, to balance this the human body has sweat glands which produce perspiration to cool the body. Usually young people experience more fear than adults do (Metcalf). When one has a fear of something, one normally does not spend much time thinking about it, and it only affects one when one is forced to confront it. Just about everyone is afraid of something,...show more content... However, phobia can even cause people to risk their health. For example, the fear of dentists can leave people suffering from it willing to risk the health of their teeth in order to avoid having to go through an exam or procedure ( MacKay). When one knows about an upcoming confrontation, it can be the reason why one can not sleep or finds it hard to focus on important tasks. Due the change in daily routine, this unrealistic fear can interfere with the ability to socialize, work, or go about everyday life, brought on by and object, event or situation. But even animals have anxieties and phobias just as every human being (www.phobia–help.de). A phobia is an irrational fear, one knows that the object or situation, one is scared off, can not hurt one, but one is still afraid. A reason for this is that the human mind can not distinguish what is real and imaginary. When one has uncontrollable anxiety attacks, he loses rational judgement, leading to complicated problems. However, anyone can develop a phobia, men and women, teens and young adults, and elderly lady or a one–year–old boy (MacKay). Thereby it is not completely clear, what the causes for phobia are. Phobia is often caused by something scary that happened earlier in somebody's life, but not every one develop phobias after special experiences. An explanation for this could be that for some people certain parts of the brain and specific neural pathways are associated with phobias. It is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Research Paper On Fear Fear. Such a strong emotion that many of us feel everyday. Without fear the world would be a disaster but with it can make someones life a disaster. There are many people in today's society that let fear over rule them. These people let the fear over rule their whole life, making them not able to go outside because they are absolutely terrified by what is out that door. Then, there are people that are fearless, that rush into a burning house because they literally are not scared. One could say that most of the population is about right between those two lines. Fear can sneak up on one from out of no where and make you lock up. There is literally a fear for everything so one should not be distraught if something odd should intrigue fear on them. For example, I am scared of spiders. I have literally always been scared...show more content... Fear is often related to our social peers. Fear can hit one like no other when there are all the social pressures on one, making them collapse. The social pressure can be unbearable and strike fear into almost anyone. For example, all your friends are trying marijuana. They keep repeatedly telling you to try it and it'll be cool if you do. You don't know what there smoking, but then again you don't want to lose them as friends. This can strike someone down with fear because they have no clue what to do. For another example there is always the opinion of others. Especially for a high school student. Other children can be downright ruthless, making fun of what you wear, look like, or even how you smell. These aspects can make one even scared to go to school. These kids strike you down with more and more opinions every day causing you to be more scared of school everyday. This is just like the physical fear, you have to stand up for yourself, because if they see they can do it once they're not going to just stop. You have to stand up and say i don't care what anyone thinks and be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay on The Emotion of Fear Fear Do all living things fear something? Those with minds surely have many and various fears, but even the simplest organisms must have fear, for fear is such a powerful feeling. Fear is all around us and is felt in every corner of the earth. Fear is the emotion or feeling that a living creature gets when its physical or mental life is interrupted by a change that causes the creature concern. We humans especially, fear many different things: death, disease, old age, commitment, noises in the night, pain, responsibility, work, being too fat or too thin, or any number of other things. Some of our fears are reasonable and rationale, like the fear for our safety so we lock our doors at night, never walk alone on dark streets, and...show more content... Change, the process of all growth and life, is greeted generally with a feeling of fear. Fears seem to sneak up on us, drenching us in sweat sending our heart rate rocketing, leaving us quaking and shivering. Some fears we see coming and our body and mind prepare to fight or flee. We understand those kinds of fears and can use rational thinking , stress reduction, and plan our actions to combat those fears. Various things help reduce our sense of helplessness, which is a common emotion experienced with fear. One of the things we fear the most is the loss of or lack of control. Even if we really don't have control, we like to think we do, and when we lose that sense of control, fear rushes in. For example, an alcoholic will say " I can quit any time; I'm in control." The fear comes when he realizes for the first time that he is an alcoholic and that he is not in control. We all fear uncertainty and the unknown. We arm ourselves against it with candles in the dark, or faith against the uncertainty of death. Then, when we think we've conquered our fear, it comes invading our minds again, let in by a smell or a taste, a sound or a thought Fear is always there, just waiting right under the surface, to awaken those memories which frighten us the most. Fear can come anytime in the silence of the night or in the bright glare of the day. Fear cannot be conquered. We Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Definition Essay On Fear Fear. The number one emotion that runs most of our lives. No matter how many times we try to avoid it, it just seems to keep coming back. Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses and she definitely knows what it's like to feel fear. As she has stated many times, some of the toughest roles she's played in films began with the feeling of fear. She would read a script and think to herself, "Wow, I'm scared to take this role. I don't know if I can do this." That thought, however, is exactly what led her to do it and as is turns out, the roles she feared the most turned out to be her best and even earned her many high profile awards, including the ultimate Academy Award. Kate said this entry's quote when she was fearfully climbing a mountain on the adventure reality television show, Running Wild with Bear Grylls. These words of wisdom talk about how it's a good thing when a person feels fear if it involves going after something he or she really wants. It means that person is facing that fear and when a fear is faced, it's being challenged. Fear will not go away permanently until we keep challenging it and getting past it. Although it may seem like it goes away when you decide to not take a risk, it's only temporary. It's still locked in your core waiting to come out again the second you encounter another risk that you really want to take. If we're not feeling fearful, we're not doing something that is worth the risk....show more content... That fear stems from the natural fight or flight reaction our body has to protect us from serious harm. The fear I'm talking about is the fear that we learned as children. It's the fear we learned from society and the situations we had to go through. It's the fear that brainwashes our minds and tells us we aren't worth that risk, that we will fail. This is an unnatural fear and whether we know it or not, it rules our lives in many Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflection About Fear Failure is a lesson everyone will learn from, but the fear of falling into the same traps that others around me have can make or break me. Temptations such as drugs, not graduating or not being financially stable is a fear of mine. Not everyone thinks of these things, they just go day by day and live unaware of their circumstance. But when you acknowledge the fact that there are problems you're one step closer to finding a resolution. This isn't a problem everyone faces, it's just a thought that might have lingered one time or another throughout life. With all honesty I believe the environment in which a person lives can have an effect on their chances to succeed in life. How determined you are to beat the odds, to avoid drugs, focusing on school, and live within your means might determine if you face the problem of what many calls "the struggle". Drugs can become very addictive and while seeing the affect it has of some of the people I love made me fear becoming them because I face most of the problems they face the idea of wanting to be numb the thought of needing something or someone more than what I provide is a scary feeling. I imagine what it's like the musty odor of unwashed skin, reeking of weed smoke with a mixture of burnt plastic. Seeing the coming and going of half a man all skin and bones feeling the pain of everyone in the room. You become consumed by the next fix I seen it happen to the best of people. Not only can drugs become a trap but not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Fear Personal Essay Fear Fear is an emotion produced by the brain to avoid a potentially bad situation or it is also anxiety caused by the presence of danger. Fear is caused by a threatening situation. Winston Churchill once said, " The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself." This famous saying shows that fear affects people as much as they let it affect them. The way I deal with my fears is to try to overcome them or not let them get to me. But it's not always easy. I'm 16 years old, and I still can't dangle my feet over the edge of the bed in the dark. How pathetic. I know that big hairy hands with strong knuckles will grab my brittle ankles and drag me down to a black hole of terror. Of course, this is never a conscious thought when my foot...show more content... No creature is comfortable with change as the saying goes "better the devil ya know than the devil ya don't".There is huge fear in change. But we humans especially, fear many different things maybe that is wrong to say and I only think that because I am human and haven't studied the fears of other creatures but lets just go with it. For example; death, disease, old age, commitment, noises in the night, pain, responsibility, work, being too fat or too thin, or any number of other things. Some of our fears are reasonable and rationale, like the fear for our safety so we lock our doors at night, never walk alone on dark streets, and turn on lots of lights to keep the boogie man away. We all can remember the boogie man from our childhood! He's a great one to scare the children! But we also fear for our health so we diet, exercise, and eat only healthy foods. Our fears can also help us make wise decisions: where to live, what to do with our money, how to raise our children, even what kind of car to drive and whether or not to drive it. They can be helpful too and if they weren't there something bad could really happen. Personally terror gives us boundaries that we don't like to wonder from. Our fears may be sudden like when your kid brother jumps out behind you and yells 'boo'. People's fears can be built up over a long period of time. I certainly know some of my weird ones' are. • 12. Persuasive Essay About Fear "Don't be scared," is a phrase we are constantly told. I heard it after running into mom's room as a kid, terrified after waking up from a scary dream. And when I was nervous before taking a big test. And a thousand other times. It's ingrained into us our whole lives since we were born. Our immediate reaction to feeling fear now is to bury it. We've trained ourselves to be ashamed of that part of us. It can be isolating, until we learn to open up. Everyone experiences fear, it's a part of being alive. But that fear doesn't have to stop us. It's okay to be afraid, but we shouldn't let it stop us from experiencing life. The truth is, everyone is scared. Whether that fear controls you is what defines you. I used to let fear dictate how I lived my life. As someone with an anxiety disorder, I was constantly avoiding the things that made me afraid. For years I didn't speak in school. It got to the point where I was used to hearing people say things like, "I've never heard you talk before," or "I thought you were mute." I was too scared of rejection or saying something dumb or not having anything to say at all that I didn't. I let that fear control me. And because of it, I didn't have friends. Finally, I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to be held back by anxiety or fear anymore. I thought I could pretend to be fearless like how I thought everyone else was. But it turns out, other people aren't as fearless as they seem. Freshman year I auditioned for the school musical, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Paper On Fear Fear is a feeling induced by experience, perceived danger, or watching a frightening traumatic accident. The fear responses arise from the perception of danger and ultimately a change in behaviour, such as fleeing, or hiding or from perceived traumatic events. Every person has fears and different fears may be different adaptations that have been useful in our evolutionary past. I have fears too, and sometime, I feel embarrassed to intersperse my fear with others. My fear is Lepidopterophobia, which is the word for fear of butterflies. Many times I have been letting others know about my fear and they always thought it was very funny because butterflies are very small and beautiful. However, I have reason to fear it. • 14. Essay on Fear: Why Are We So Afraid? "Being frightened is an experience you can't buy." We are a society that adores fear. We thrive off of it; creating horror movies, shows like "Fear Factor", and the media in general are only a few examples. At the same time there are people who are afraid to leave their house and are possibly restricted to a single room. So what is fear? What is the purpose of being afraid? Why is it that some people will run and scream when they see a snake while others collect and breed them for their love of these majestic reptiles? Fear is a feeling we have all dealt with at one time or another. It is something that we first experience as children, and are conditioned to respond to in many different ways. In a controversial experiment in...show more content... Fear can also refer to general anxiety, as in Arachnophobia "fear of spiders" or Claustrophobia "fear of closed in areas." These fears occur not automatically from a present or looming danger, but instead a perceived threat, which to some can be just as scary. As said in a German proverb, "Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is." For most people fear is a horrible and sickening feeling, which it can sometimes be debilitating. Fear is what shows us how to be careful, because self–protection is primitive. Therefore, it is safe to suggest that we may be afraid to travel into an unlit cemetery for fear of being hurt by something unknown. What could this unknown factor be? A ghost? Perhaps, but these fears are unreasonable. Although this fear of ghosts and other things was established when we were young, the fear never goes away. For we fear being physically hurt in any manner. Fear is a natural thing; it is indeed what keeps us safe and secure. Fear is not a logical thought, but rather an irrational emotion. When a fear is not validated by the presence of actual danger or a threat, or by a realistic cause, and when it is also associated with a continuing evading of the circumstances, which lead to it, it is called a phobia. Phobias occur in several forms. A phobia is a recurring, impractical, paralyzing fear of a specific Get more content on HelpWriting.net
