fallacy that falls under the irrelevant premises is appeal to the person. Appeal to the person is
rejecting the claim not because of the claim itself, but because of the person who makes the
claim. In the workplace, someone could suggest a pleasing idea, but because of the individual it
came from, an idea that could have been exertive is now useless. Another fallacy is appeal to

Creative thinkers are curious, imaginative, inventive, explorative and open minded. Almost 20
years ago, my husband of 20 years passed away. A few years later, my father passed away also.
They were the only 2 men that I had known in my life, so it was an incident in my life that left

Similarities and Differences
Prior to completing this paper, I thought that critical thinking and creative problem solving were
very different. However, I find that they are very much alike. Critical thinking and creative problem
solving follow very similar steps to reach a solution.
Conceptualizing and preparing are the beginning phases at which time one realizes there is a
problem. Stage two is the applying and analyzing or incubation stage. After success has been reached
at this stage, the process proceeds to the synthesizing or illumination stage. This could also be
considered the Aha stage where an idea comes to light. The last stage is the evaluation or verification
to determine the success of the solution.
One difference that should be discussed is that the creative process appears to be more open and
looks for more than one resolution to a problem. An example of this is the story at the end of
chapter nine. The question presented was "Show how it is possible to determine the height of a tall
building with the aid of barometer" (Dacey & Lennon, 1998, p. 185). The professor expected
an answer using physics logic, but the student was creative and thought outside the box. By doing
this, there were many answers to the question. The critical thinking process is rigid and expects to
find only one resolution.

So here it is safe to say that association is classical conditioning and motivation is an integral form
of this learning method. Taking this a step further, there is another form of conditioning known
as aversive conditioning this happens when you begin to associate a negative act as a reaction to
doing something wrong. An example would be, when we are in our teen years, and all our
friends are smoking, and it is our turn to do the nasty deed, we vacillate, "to do or not to do". We
internally hear all the negatives regarding smoking, but we see our friends saying "just come on,
do it". We know if we are caught doing this act, there will be much negative reaction from our
parents, in the form of a huge punishment, so the big question we ask ourselves, is peer pressure
worth it, or should I just say no. If I smoke, I pay a consequence in getting grounded, if I say no,
will my friends mock me? (We will cover peer pressure in a later paper). So, aversive conditioning
comes when we know a negative reaction will come from doing an iniquitous deed. Making the
difference in classical conditioning and aversive conditioning, the way a reward or motivation is
