trip, all you need is one wicking undershirt that will be able to pull the sweat
away from your body. You can wear a T-shirt over that, and if the weather is
going to be cold, bring along a wool sweater and a jacket as well. You can take
a similar approach to the bottom half of your clothing apparel, and buy a pair
of pretty straightforward hiking boots to finish it off. All in all, your total
outdoor clothing purchases can be less than 200 dollars – not a bad price tag
for gear that will last you for years!
Of course, not having good camping clothing can be almost as much of an
inconvenience as not having good hiking clothing. I learned this the hard way
the first time I went hiking. It was all well and good on the trail, but when I
got into camp I had no way to relax. All I had to Wear was my heavy hiking gear
– long pants, heavy boots, and a long sleeved shirt. I had no flip-flops or
shorts to wear around the campsite.
