What does it take to begin a relationship with God? Devote yourself to unselfish religious deeds? Become a better person so that God will accept you? You may be surprised that none of those things will work. But God has made it very clear in the Bible how we can know Him. The following principles will explain how you can personally begin a relationship with God, right now, through Jesus Christ...

24. We Must Receive Christ

When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth ( Read John 3:1-8.) 5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit [ b ] gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You [ c ] must be born again.' 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

29. Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be.

40. Thank God many times. Thank Him becuase Jesus lives in your life. Thank Him He will not leave you. "God has said, 'I will never leave you or let you be alone.' " (Hebrews 13:5) When you asked Jesus into your life you have life that lasts forever. God will not lie to you.
