A. A. Preliminary Activity
1. 1. Opening Prayer
To start our day, everybody stand
for our opening prayer, are you ready to pray
children?
In the name of the Father, of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Angel of God
My guardian dear to whom His love commits
me here. Ever this day be at my side to light
and guard, to rule and guide. Amen
2. 2. Energizer
Okay children before you take your
seat, let us awaken our body by dancing. Are
you ready children?
3. Greetings
Good morning children!
You may now take your seat.
Yes, we are!
In the name of the Father, of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Angel of God
My guardian dear to whom His love commits
me here. Ever this day be at my side to light
and guard, to rule and guide. Amen
Yes, teacher.
Good morning teacher, good morning
classmates. It’s nice to see you again.
2. 4. Checking of Attendance
Is there any absentees for today?
Very Good! Give yourselves five claps.
5. Processing of Prayer
Why do we need to pray before we
start our lesson children?
Very Good! We need to pray to God so that
He would guide us in learning new lessons
that we will tackle the entire day.
Do you understand children?
6. Review
Okay class, before we proceed to our
new lesson, let’s have a brief review of our
past lesson. Our lesson yesterday was about
sizes. The different kinds of sizes are?
Very good! Let us see if you really
understood our lesson yesterday.
What do you see between these two fishes?
Very good! How about these two animals?
Which one is taller, the horse or the giraffe?
Great! The giraffe is taller than the horse.
For the last picture, which one is longer? The
snake on the left or the snake on the right?
None teacher.
We need to pray to thank God for all the
blessing he has given to us.
Yes, teacher.
The different kind of sizes are big, small, tall,
short, and long.
The yellow fish is bigger than the red fish.
The giraffe is taller than the horse.
3. Very good! It seems that you really
understand our lesson yesterday.
7. Motivation
Before we start our new lesson, I want
you to meet my friend, her name is Moana.
She needs help because she lost her
precious gem. Would you help her find the
missing gem?
Before we start our trip, let us first check her
boat.
Oh no! The flag of her boat has holes. Let us
first fix the flag!
The shape of the first hole you see?
Right! The next one?
Very good! The next shape?
And the next shape?
That’s right! What do you think is the next
The snake on the left is longer than the
snake on the right.
Yes, teacher!
The first shape is rectangle.
The next shape is the circle.
Rectangle again teacher.
The next shape is circle.
4. shape? The rectangle or the circle?
Let us look if the rectangle shape fits in.
Very good! What do you think is the last?
Very good!
The circle shape is the last missing piece.
Does the flag of her boat already fix?
Great job! Now that Moana’s boat is ready,
we can now start looking for the missing
gem.
Moana reached a pirate store, so she bought
two crabs, two fishes and two squids. Moana
arranged them in her cooler.
What did Moana buy from the Pirate store?
Very good! Let us now check how Moana
arranged the seafoods in her cooler. First is
the crab, second is fish, third is the squid and
another crab, fish and squid. Now that we
saw how she arranged the seafoods, let us
now go on searching for her gem.
It is the rectangle.
Circle is the last missing piece.
Yes, teacher.
Moana bought crabs, fishes and squids.
5. At last! Moana reached the other island
where she found her missing gem.
Do you think Moana is happy now?
Give yourselves 5 claps for helping Moana.
B. Lesson Proper
B1. Discussion
Our lesson for today is about Patterns.
What is pattern? Pattern is the arrangement
of objects in a repeated order. I’ll give you an
example.
Look at Moana’s boat, what have you
noticed?
Very good! The flag has holes. The first
shape that you see on the hole is?
A
Very good! The first shape is the rectangle
and we will label it as the A object. What
comes after the rectangle?
B
That’s right! We’re going to label it as the B
object. After the circle?
A
Very good. Again, the rectangle shape is
labelled as object A. The next shape is?
Yes, teacher.
The flag of her boat has holes.
First shape is the rectangle.
The next shape is circle.
After the circle is a rectangle.
That shape is circle.
6. B
Nice! The circle is our object B. The next
shape is?
A
Very good. It is labeled as object A. For the
last hole, what shape is this?
B
Very good. Our last shape is labeled as the B
object.
A B A B A B
Again, the rectangle shapes are labelled as
the A object while the circle shapes are
labeled as the B object. This kind of pattern
is called the AB pattern. Again, this pattern
is?
In AB Pattern, we only have 2 objects
repeated in the pattern, the first object is the
‘A’ and the second object is the ‘B’. Again,
the A object in her boat is?
That is right! And the B object is the?
Very good! I have another example of AB
pattern. Let us see how the gardener planted
the flowers.
A B A B A B
How many colours of flower do you see?
Very good! What are the colours of the
flowers?
The next shape is rectangle.
The last shape is the circle.
AB Pattern.
The A object is the rectangle shape.
The B object is the circle shape.
We see two colours teacher.
7. Very good, the flowers are also in AB pattern
because the A object is the yellow flower and
the B object is the blue flower. Do you
understand children?
Very good! Now, let us check again if the
seafoods that Moana bought from the Pirate
Store are still arranged properly. Again, what
are the seafood’s she bought from the store?
Very good! Those are crabs, fishes and
squids!
Which seafood comes first?
A
Very good! We’re going to label the crab as
the object A because it is the first object.
What comes after the crab?
B
Very good! The fish will be our object B
because it is the second object. And after the
fish?
C
Very good! The squid will be the object C.
And after the squid is another crab, another
fish and another squid. The seafoods are
arranged in ABC pattern. In this pattern, we
have seen 3 different objects, the crabs are
the A, fishes are the B and the squids are the
C. Again, what is this pattern?
The colors of the flowers are yellow and blue
Yes, teacher.
The seafoods she bought are crabs, fishes
and squids.
The crab.
The fish.
After the fish is the squid.
8. Let us have another example. What are the
fruits on the table?
A B C
Very good! The fruits are also arranged in
ABC pattern. The apples represent the ‘A’,
the bananas will be the ‘B’ and the oranges
will be the ‘C’. So that makes them an ABC
pattern. Do you understand children?
I have here another example of pattern. Look
at this picture. What do you see in the
picture?
Very good! These farm animals are arranged
in AAB pattern. This is called AAB pattern
because the first object is repeated in the
second object. While the third object is the
only lone object in the pattern. Therefore, the
first pig is the A, another pig for the second A
and B for the chicken. What do you think is
the letter of the next 2 pigs?
Very good! How about the chicken?
Very good! And that makes it AAB pattern.
Again, this pattern is called?
Very good! Now, I have here another
example. I have empty bottles.
An ABC pattern.
The fruits on the table are apples, bananas
and oranges.
Yes, teacher.
There are pigs and chickens in the farm.
The letter of the 2 pigs is A.
The chicken is the letter B.
AAB pattern.
9. What are the sizes of the empty bottles?
Very good! Are the bottles arranged in AAB
pattern?
Let us check if these bottles are arranged in
AAB pattern. Let’s put a mark on the bottles,
who wants to mark the first bottle?
Is your classmate’s answer correct?
Very good! Call another classmate to mark
the second bottle.
Is your classmate’s answer correct?
Very good! Lastly, call another classmate to
mark the third bottle.
The sizes of the empty bottles are big and
small.
Yes, teacher.
(A pupil will participate)
A
Yes, teacher.
Please be the next
(call another pupil)
A
Yes, teacher.
Please be the next
(call another pupil)
10. Is your classmate’s answer correct?
Very good! Give yourselves 10 claps! After
the big bottle are another 2 small bottles,
which we labeled as object A and B for the
last big bottle. Again, the pattern we used is?
Very good! For the next example, what is in
the picture?
Very good! The colors of the crayons are?
Is this an AAB pattern?
Very good! Because this pattern is called
ABB pattern. Kindly repeat children.
Like the AAB pattern, this has a repeated
object, but in this pattern the second object is
the repeated object while the A does not
have a pair.
In our example, the black color is the ‘A’ and
the 2 pink colors are the ‘B’.
And for the last example, I have here boxes
with different sizes.
B
Yes, teacher.
We used the AAB pattern teacher.
Crayons, teacher.
The colors are black and pink teacher.
No teacher.
The pattern is called ABB pattern.
11. How are these boxes arranged?
That’s right! The boxes I have are arranged
in ABB pattern. The A is for small box and B
is for the 2 big boxes and A again for another
small box another 2 big boxes to be the
object B. Do you understand children?
B2. Enrichment
Activity 1
Now, for us to understand the lesson well, let
us have an activity.
Direction: Put a smiling face (😊) in the box if
the pattern is an AB and sad face (☹) if it is
an ABC pattern.

C. Generalization
What pattern is used when we only see
two different objects?
What pattern is used when we can see three
different objects?
What pattern is used when we can see three
different objects, but the first 2 objects are
the same?
What pattern is used when we can see three
different objects, but the second and third
objects are the same?
AB pattern, ABC pattern, AAB pattern
and ABB pattern are ways of arranging
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
We use the AB pattern.
We use the ABC pattern.
We use the AAB patter.
We use the ABB pattern.
13. objects. The orderly arrangement of objects
or shapes is called PATTERN.
E. Valuing Process
Why is it important for us to study
patterns?
Very good! It is important to study pattern
because it gives us a sense of orderliness
and proper arrangement of things such as
decorating your room or even the things in
your bag.
IV. Evaluation
Direction: Complete the pattern by drawing
the missing figure in the box.
Answer Key:
1. 6.
2. 7.
3. 8.
4. 9.
5. 10.
Patterns are important because it help us
organize things.
V. Assignment
Draw your own pattern in your notebook #10. 3 patterns each type *AB, ABC, AAB,
ABB pattern*.
