5. Piezoelectric materials is installed in tennis racquet to reduce the shock wave
which Produces when player hits the ball.
6. During the last decades, piezoelectric materials
made huge progress in entering commercial
massmarkets throughout all branches, where
piezoelectrics are used as the basis materials for
actuatorsas well as sensors.
Especially in two fields:
1. Transportation
2. Health Care
7. In last few years piezo electric materials have shown a tremendous
growth in the field of piezoelectric materials.
8. Piezoelectric patch actuators are used which will be attached to
the surface of the oil pan. First numerical and experimental
investigations on a laboratory demonstrator at LBF showed that
significant vibration reduction could be achieved.
9. It is used for power amplification system. Currently, such
miniaturized power amplifiers for piezos are under investigation
by the University of Twente .
10. This is a wear detection system for train wheels. The idea is to detect the
changes in the vibration behavior of the entire wheel caused by the surface
changes on the rolling contact area.
11. Energy harvesting describes the process of changing parasitic mechanical energy,
for instance of a vibrating structure, into electrical energy. This energy is used for
other purposes, for example for driving an electrical circuit or for storage in a
battery or a large capacitor.
12. It’s been said that health is wealth. Piezo-electric materials have given
this industry new wings of technology.
13. A new X-ray source, about the size of a stick of gum, could go into super-light, portable,
all-purpose scanners in the future, its developers say. Some companies already sell handheld
"guns" that aim X-rays for dentists, veterinarians and industrial inspectors.
But the new X-ray source, made with crystals of so-called piezoelectric material, could make
possible lighter scanners that use less electricity.
