POPOLO DEI LETTORI ITALIANI NEL 2010  I LETTORI SONO IN AUMENTO .più le donne .soprattutto lettori  deboli .più al Nord
Nel 2010, oltre 24 milioni d'italiani hanno dichiarato di leggere nel loro tempo libero.  Solo il 15%. però, è un lettore forte, legge cioè più di 12 libri all'anno.
Percentuale dei lettori a livello territoriale Regione Trentino Alto-Adige Campania Sicilia Basilicata Lettori(%) 57,9% 33,3% 32,8% 31,4%
I lettori più assidui sono gli over 75, sia uomini che donne; mentre per altre fasce d'età il sesso femminile supera sempre quello maschile(in media, le lettrici sono il 53,1% rispetto al 40,1% degli uomini).
