2. The Context
News
channels
(at
least
in
India)
have
become
virtually
indis8nguishable
from
each
other.
The
same
news,
the
same
issues,
the
same
hype
and
the
same
hysteria.
In
fact
news
has
become
just
one
big
reality
show.
Up
close
and
personal.
Instead
of
interes8ng
repor8ng,
balanced
perspec8ve
and
a
wholesome
offering,
the
audience
is
fed
shrieking
journalists
pushing
their
channel’s
agenda
in
an
altogether
unhealthy
manner.
3. The Need
All
news
channels
are
predominantly
viewed
by
25+
males.
It
is
this
same
pie
that
all
channels
divide
and
desperately
try
to
get
a
larger
slice
of.
Any
programming
that
expands
the
reach
of
a
news
channel
would
greatly
increase
it’s
targeted
band
of
adver8sers
and
hence
its
revenues.
4. The Insight
Kids
today
thirst
for
knowledge.
Not
the
textbook
knowledge
that
schools
dump
on
them
but
a
certain
world
awareness.
There’s
a
premium
on
being
informed
and
aware,
rather
than
studious
and
nerdy.
Parents
too,
want
their
children
to
acquire
and
display
this
awareness.
5. The Idea
The
Kiri
&
Pamba
show.
A
weekly
news
capsule
that
is
presented
by
puppets
–
Kiri
the
mongoose,
Pamba
the
snake,
and
their
team
of
animals.
The
programme
will
deal
with
real
world
events
(not
just
specific
to
children)
but
will
be
presented
in
an
ac8on-‐packed
and
humorous
manner
that
resonates
with
the
quirky
perspec8ve
children
have
of
the
world
around
them.
6. TheAmbition
The
key
to
realizing
the
full
poten8al
of
the
Kiri
&
Pamba
Report
is
by
taking
the
property
across
media.
A
web
community.
Mobile
snippets.
Issue
based
comics.
Merchandize.
The
TV
programme
is
just
a
launch
pad
for
the
concept.
The
goal
is
to
u8lize
all
the
characters
of
The
Kiri
&
Pamba
Report
and
create
a
mul8media
property
that
helps
kids
become
aware
and
connected.
