1. Final Project Presentation
Option 1: Edmodo
Group Members: April Rousseau, Kyle Whisnant, Tara
Mauney, Allison Barfield, and Christy Snow
2. Edmodo: The Basics
Edmodo is an awesome education tool...
"It provides a safe and easy way for classes to
connect and collaborate, share content, and access
homework, grades and school notices"- Edmodo
3. Why did we choose Edmodo?
● Free and Easy to use
● Similar to like facebook
● April could have her
psychology students join
and interact
● It is safe compared to
other social networks.
4. Future Potential for Edmodo
Flipped Classroom
● New teaching strategy that allows students to view
videotaped lessons away from school.
● Students then engage in reinforcement activities at
school.
● Allows for learning to take place throughout the day, not
just at school.
Edmodo would be the ideal platform for a flipped
classroom model. It creates a one-stop shop for videos,
lessons, assignments and anything else.
5. Success!
"Edmodo was a Success. Pictures prove it!
Though it is only the beginning I think it will be
a tool I will use in my classroom from now on."-
April
6. Implementation in the Classroom
● High School Psychology Class
● 1st assignment: Get to know Edmodo & post something
cool!
● 2nd Assignment: Research an article on Therapy- post
findings on my "wall"
● 3rd Assignment: Begin discussions on other student
postings.
● 4th Assignment: Answer Questions Mrs. Rousseau Posts
on Ch.17- Therapy
● 5th Assignment: Post link to Projects
● 6th Assignment: Positive Feedback on other posted
projects
7. So how did we ALL use it?
● Everyone in the group used April's sign on info
● We all became familiar with the site
● We all posted topics for April's Psychology class
to read/research
● We all used positive feedback in assisting what
students posted.
8. Issues of Edmodo/ Project
Student responses:
● "Not enough like Facebook."
● "Need internet access at home to fully be involved
instead of rushed at school to post"
● "Need more internet access at school-- via
Laptops/connections"
Group Responses: (April, Christy, Kyle, Tara, Allison)
● Not enough teacher options
● Changing lesson plans took TIME
● Assignments very basic
9. What would we change?
Few featured options:
1. Preview request
before students
posted assignments
2. Easier Navigation.
10. Teaching Responsibility
Using a program like Edmodo that is similar to
popular social networking sites allows students
to learn responsible use.
Edmodo gives teachers a chance to teach
ethical behavior on social sites.
