25 MW Solar Thermal Power Plant (EPCM)

• Lauren CCL is currently performing
engineering, procurement and construction
management services for a 25 MW solar
thermal power plant located in Gujarat, India.
• This
project,
named
Gujarat
Solar
One, represents one of three solar projects
which Lauren is currently undertaking in
India, with a combined total of 200 MW.
ACME's first 2.5 MW solar thermal power
plant, partnered with eSolar, USA, has been
commissioned which will be scaled upto 10MW
at Bikaner, Rajasthan.
ACME Solar Thermal Technology
• State-of-the-art concentrated solar power tower
technology
• Highly cost-effective and energy-efficient
• Scalable to 50-100 MW unit size
Features
• The solar field design is in multiples of 4 MW and
scalable to 50-100 MW. Modules are planned based on
the size of the project
• Double-axis software-driven mirror tracking system
• Lightweight, small size of around 1 m2 flat mirrors
Advantages

• More suitable for high ambient temperature and
designed for direct steam generation
• More efficient electricity generation from steam due to
higher temperature of steam without the use of any
intermediate heat transfer medium
• Less 'parasitic' energy use for plant operation due to
reduced movement of thermal mass
• Higher capacity utilisation-more MW hours produced
per MW of installed power equipment
• Lower cost per MW power produced. We can work in
the hybrid mode with gas, coal or biomass for the
optimum utilisation of plant

• This mainly consists of a steam turbo generator and its
auxiliaries, piping and the electrical transmission
system.

About the Project
• After comparison of
several
solar
technologies, the solar
parabolic
dish
technology has been
found most suitable for
our purposes.
• The Scheffler Dish is a
proven technology, and
WRST has 15 years’
extensive experience
with this technology.
The main advantages of the 60m2 parabolic dish with fix focus are:

- Cost effective / high output
- Relatively simple
construction, modular design.
- Innovative thermal storage concept
- Easy operation/ maintenance; all
components available in India.
- Inexpensive planar mirrors and MCcontrolled tracking system.
- Fixed receiver with no need for
flexible high pressure joints.
- No vacuum technology and no
metal glass sealing.
- Due to direct steam generation, no
heat exchanger and low parasitic
loads
- Efficient use of land; the dishes can
be tightly placed.
- Power on demand and high
efficiency due to cogeneration.

• It is intended to set up the innovative
solar thermal power plant based on
the newly developed 60m2 parabolic
dish with 16 hrs steel core cavity
receiver and storage for continuous
operation with the following main
technical specifications.

Timetable
• The time frame for completion of this project is two
years.
The project will be executed in two phases:
Phase I: Simulation and planning for the power plant
Phase II: Procurement and installation of the 1,0 Mw
el. power plant

03.2011 - Fabrication and installation
01.2013 - Test and commissioning
01.2013-01.2014 - Evaluation, report preparation
Budget
• The budget for the project is 66 Crs Indian
Rupees excluding cost of land.
• The WRST request for funding with the Indian
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy
Sources (MNRE) has been approved.
• The German Ministry for Environment, Nature
Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) is
considering to support this project.
Areva Solar Builds Giant Solar Farm In India
• In a north-western corner of
India, rows of steel and glass
are set to rise from the
ground to form what will be
one of the largest solar power
plants in Asia.
• The 250-megawatt project is
the first in India for Silicon
Valley-based Areva Solar,
which is benefiting from an
aggressive plan by the Indian
government to boost solar
energy generation to help
reduce
the
country’s
greenhouse gas emissions.

• The company will complete the
project in two phases, with the first
125 megawatts to come online in
May 2013, said Jayesh Goyal, the
company’s global vice president of
sales.
• The second phase will start
delivering power in late 2014 or
early 2015.
Solar Thermal (Concentrated Solar
Power-CSP) Projects
• Entegra is in advanced
discussions to undertake
CSP Projects in Rajasthan
and Gujarat; the two states
in India with the highest
solar
radiation
characteristics. The initial
capacities of the proposed
projects are 10 MW in
Rajasthan , the projects can
be scaled up to 200 MW.
The projects will be first-ofits-kind in the field of CSP
based power generation in
India.

• Aurum Renewable Energy signed the PPA for 20 MW Solar Thermal Power
plant.
• Procured 200 Acres+ of Land in Village Mitrala, District Porbandar, Gujarat
required for Implementation of the 20 MW Solar Thermal Power Plant.
The necessary Infrastructure development is underway.
• Other renewable options like Bio mass etc will also be explored.

  • 2. 50 MW Solar Thermal Power Plant (EPCM) Godawari Green Energy Project Rajasthan, India • Lauren CCL is currently performing engineering, procurement and construction management services for a 50 MW solar thermal power plant located in Rajasthan, India. • This project represents one of three solar projects which Lauren is currently undertaking in India, with a combined total of 200 MW.
  • 3. 25 MW Solar Thermal Power Plant (EPCM) Cargo Power and Infrastructure Gujarat, India • Lauren CCL is currently performing engineering, procurement and construction management services for a 25 MW solar thermal power plant located in Gujarat, India. • This project, named Gujarat Solar One, represents one of three solar projects which Lauren is currently undertaking in India, with a combined total of 200 MW.
  • 4. ACME's first 2.5 MW solar thermal power plant, partnered with eSolar, USA, has been commissioned which will be scaled upto 10MW at Bikaner, Rajasthan.
  • 5. ACME Solar Thermal Technology • State-of-the-art concentrated solar power tower technology • Highly cost-effective and energy-efficient • Scalable to 50-100 MW unit size Features • The solar field design is in multiples of 4 MW and scalable to 50-100 MW. Modules are planned based on the size of the project • Double-axis software-driven mirror tracking system • Lightweight, small size of around 1 m2 flat mirrors
  • 6. Advantages • More suitable for high ambient temperature and designed for direct steam generation • More efficient electricity generation from steam due to higher temperature of steam without the use of any intermediate heat transfer medium • Less 'parasitic' energy use for plant operation due to reduced movement of thermal mass • Higher capacity utilisation-more MW hours produced per MW of installed power equipment • Lower cost per MW power produced. We can work in the hybrid mode with gas, coal or biomass for the optimum utilisation of plant
  • 7. Power Block • This mainly consists of a steam turbo generator and its auxiliaries, piping and the electrical transmission system. India One Solar Thermal Power Project • World Renewal Spiritual Trust (WRST), a registered Charitable Trust / solar research centre and a sister organization of the Brahma Kumaris, is setting up a 1.0 MW solar thermal power plant in order to demonstrate and multiply this alternative technology for India.   • 9. About the Project • After comparison of several solar technologies, the solar parabolic dish technology has been found most suitable for our purposes. • The Scheffler Dish is a proven technology, and WRST has 15 years’ extensive experience with this technology.
  • 10. The main advantages of the 60m2 parabolic dish with fix focus are: - Cost effective / high output - Relatively simple construction, modular design. - Innovative thermal storage concept - Easy operation/ maintenance; all components available in India. - Inexpensive planar mirrors and MCcontrolled tracking system. - Fixed receiver with no need for flexible high pressure joints. - No vacuum technology and no metal glass sealing. - Due to direct steam generation, no heat exchanger and low parasitic loads - Efficient use of land; the dishes can be tightly placed. - Power on demand and high efficiency due to cogeneration. • It is intended to set up the innovative solar thermal power plant based on the newly developed 60m2 parabolic dish with 16 hrs steel core cavity receiver and storage for continuous operation with the following main technical specifications.

  • 12. Timetable • The time frame for completion of this project is two years. The project will be executed in two phases: Phase I: Simulation and planning for the power plant Phase II: Procurement and installation of the 1,0 Mw el. power plant 01.2011 - Start of the project 02.2011 - Purchasing of components 03.2011 - Fabrication and installation 01.2013 - Test and commissioning 01.2013-01.2014 - Evaluation, report preparation
  • 13. Budget • The budget for the project is 66 Crs Indian Rupees excluding cost of land. • The WRST request for funding with the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources (MNRE) has been approved. • The German Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) is considering to support this project.
  • 14. Areva Solar Builds Giant Solar Farm In India • In a north-western corner of India, rows of steel and glass are set to rise from the ground to form what will be one of the largest solar power plants in Asia. • The 250-megawatt project is the first in India for Silicon Valley-based Areva Solar, which is benefiting from an aggressive plan by the Indian government to boost solar energy generation to help reduce the country’s greenhouse gas emissions. • The company will complete the project in two phases, with the first 125 megawatts to come online in May 2013, said Jayesh Goyal, the company’s global vice president of sales. • The second phase will start delivering power in late 2014 or early 2015.
  • 15. Solar Thermal (Concentrated Solar Power-CSP) Projects • Entegra is in advanced discussions to undertake CSP Projects in Rajasthan and Gujarat; the two states in India with the highest solar radiation characteristics. The initial capacities of the proposed projects are 10 MW in Rajasthan , the projects can be scaled up to 200 MW. The projects will be first-ofits-kind in the field of CSP based power generation in India.

  • 18. KVK Energy Ventures Pvt. Ltd. Location: Rajasthan Fuel: Solar Thermal Capacity: 100 MW KVK Energy & Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. is developing a 100 MW Solar thermal power project in Rajasthan through KVK Energy Ventures Pvt. Ltd., which had participated in bidding for development of solar thermal power project under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission for supply of power to NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN), the nodal agency designated by Government of India. The Project is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2013.
  • 19. Aurum Renewable Energy (Solar) • Phase 1 – 20 MW in Solar Energy • To install 350 MW in Solar Energy by 2015/16 • Won 20 MW Solar Thermal Capacity allocation under Central Government Scheme in reverse bidding. • Aurum Renewable Energy signed the PPA for 20 MW Solar Thermal Power plant. • Procured 200 Acres+ of Land in Village Mitrala, District Porbandar, Gujarat required for Implementation of the 20 MW Solar Thermal Power Plant. The necessary Infrastructure development is underway. • Other renewable options like Bio mass etc will also be explored.
