• Conclusions determined were based on the
case study’s analysis, and different readings
pertaining to similar case studies and methods
of urban planning.
• Village Dynamic: Karm El Zeitoun has developed as a city within the
sectors of Beirut, so any intervention must adhere and not threaten
the integrity of its community.
• Density and neighbourhood scale: Karm El Zeitoun, as shown, is
very dense and houses thousands of inhabitants. Any intervention
must not threaten any inhabitant’s living situation, and must not
obstruct its modest neighbourhood scale. It must also embrace the
camaraderie between its inhabitants.
• Centralized urban activity: Karm El Zeitoun’s centralized urban
activity offers room for enhancement. Yet, this enhancement must
meet the demand and not offer additional supply.
