1. I will never forget this……
Going in a 3 day tour is great for me because it was my very first time to
experience this kind of trip. I am very happy, excited, and secured. On our first
destination we went to University of Immaculate Conception grade school campus and
high school campus. I was really amazed of what I saw for it was my very first time to
enter into a university. The place was beautiful and peaceful, very far from noise
pollution which makes the place more conducive for learning of each student and the
parents are much secured of the education that they are giving. I also love the teachers’
treatment when we are at their campus. They welcome us with heart whelming smiles
and they let us enjoy our tour. It was tiring but very worthy to stroll into. The students
are very friendly too. Because of their place I can somehow say that studying in an
expensive school is still worth paying for and I am thinking that one day if I will be
having my own family I will really send my child in a school like UIC where as a parent
you can really say that the learning of your child is very secured.
In our second destination we went to Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku or Mindanao
International College I felt very amazed to their heart whelming welcome to us that they
gave us a presentations and introduce to us what can be found in their school. It was
very great experience especially with their teachers because some of them are
Japanese teachers and they only knew a little tagalong words. It was amazing to know
that their student are really on a hands on works, they are very exposed to activities
related to their studies that if you are a great performer you have a very big opportunity
to study in Japan or visit Japan for free. So, even if the units are not cheap unlike
DOSCST it is still worth it.
Then after lunch around 1 pm we went to Davao City Special School (Sped). In
there I was very amazed on the teachers; they are very patient enough to teach the
children who are very different in terms of their intelligences and level of understanding.
I am really touched with their different stories especially to those children who cannot
utter even a single word through their mouth but because of those teachers who are
very patient enough to teach a sign language they can now able to communicate with
other people. Another story was to those children whom their one ear cost millions for
them to hear and for them to know how to speak, they need cochlear implant. It is very
2. moving story that made my tears started to come out from my eyes. For me it is very
hard to deal with them but I really salute those teachers who are there because they not
just a teacher to them, also a mother, sister, and even playmate. I am very proud to
those teachers. I salute you teachers, I hope that more teachers will be as dedicated as
what all of you doing right now teachers of Davao City Special School.
Furthermore, on our next day tour I was captivated of how big Ateneo de Davao
Elementary and Secondary Campus. Bigger than any other schools that I saw in Mati. It
is very clean and very systematize. As I observe in their classes I am a little bit of
ashamed of myself because the students in Grade V where I was observing with my
partner is very attentive and easy to understand. They are just given instructions which
are printed out by the teacher and then they will do all the works. And if the teacher
gives instruction like what I observe in their exchanging of papers for them to check it is
very quick and when the teacher will say ready, they are already prepared. I can really
compare them on us as a student in tertiary level that we cannot get immediately even
an instruction of exchanging papers in a counterclockwise. It is really different on how
they are trained. Even on the school that I am observing which is also in Grade V level,
they are very different in terms of how the teachers teach them and also the lessons
that that they are teaching.
Now when I was writing this I realized that elementary education is really
important for it was the foundation of the child whether he/she will excel or not, because
if the foundation of the child is week then the child won’t be able to discover his/her
assets and liabilities that may bring him into his/her future life. Then when we went to
Ateneo Collage, it was also captivated with their tall building that during our tour it was
very tiring to go upward using the stairs but it was worthy. I found my batch mates their
which make me happier. It was really great that they made effort of letting us observe
their facilities in every department. And our last destination was the UIC collage where it
was also very nice school and big. It is very great experience for me. Having this
educational tour really is an opportunity for us students to be exposed and to see better
places that someday as a future teacher we can be part of the institution that we just
visited. But in every adventure that we are going we need to put God on it for us to be
3. safe because extra careful is needed in every path we are taking. Lastly, thank you
everyone for making our tour a successful one. <3
