Studio X analyzed factors that predict Oscar nominations to help them produce more nominated films. Previous awards from organizations like the New York Film Critics Circle and Golden Globes strongly predict Oscar nominations. Certain genres, ratings, source materials, release times, directors, and budgets made films more likely to be nominated over irrelevant factors like producers or theater count. The analysis found dramas released later from previously nominated directors with R or PG-13 ratings and based on novels had the best chance at Oscar nominations.
