• Jenzabar: Software and Solutions for Higher Education
– Our higher ed ERP systems control all aspects of running a school.
– We desperately need to write higher-ed-specific software,
not infrastructure software.
– GlassFish 3.1 is the backbone of our flagship product.
• Glassfish/Java EE 6 keeps us focused and reliable
– GlassFish manages infrastructure; we manage
higher education concerns.
– GlassFish/Java EE 6 forms an open, stable,
backwards-compatible platform.

3. What Works
• Community
– GlassFish community validated our bet on stable, open source
infrastructure. Responsive, transparent, thoughtful, and careful.
• Full Java EE 6 standards conformance
– We need: CDI, JAX-RS, JCA, JMS, etc.—not just Web Profile.
• Pluggability and customization
– Plug in Hibernate. Upgrade Jersey. And so on.
• Testing, testing, testing
– Embedded GlassFish drives all our integration tests.

4. How GlassFish Can Improve
• Technical Improvements
– Handle subsystem upgrades more seamlessly.
– Reprioritize Maven repository.
– Please put more into embedded testing.
• Documentation Improvements
– Aggressively purge outdated documentation.
• Community Improvements
– Please move to different forum software! Current forums need
improvements
– Idea: library of frequently used, but non-standard components.
