administration of Phenytoin

 Older >60yrs
 Larger initial dose
 Rapid administration
 Vascular disease (DVT)
 Small bore IV cannula < 20G

 Progressive distal limb edema
 Discolouration
 Severe pain
 Vesiculobullous lesions
 Skin necrosis

 Lack of a purulent discharge
 Fever

 Limb elevation, retrograde massage.

 Faciotomy & skin grafting
