2. Victoria’s Secret
• There are two entrances to
this store, one is for their
sub company Pink and the
other is for their regular
line.
• Pink is geared toward teens
and tweens and their
regular line is geared
toward older women.
• It is like entering two
different stores depending
on your preference.
3. • Their fitting rooms are
made to look as if you
are in a strip club.
• I remember when their
stores used to be
classy, but their
branding changed over
the years to appeal to a
wider demographic.
4. • As I was waiting in line to make my purchase, I noticed
a woman in the line next to me speaking to the cashier
about returning an item.
• There were five people in front of me. By the time I was
finished paying, that woman in the line next to me was
still in the process of returning an item.
• It takes a long time to return something at Victoria’s
Secret because they do not want you to return
anything. They want the customer to eventually
become impatient throughout their return process, so
that he/she will change their mind and keep the item.
5. Abercrombie & Fitch
• I normally would not step
foot into this store, but the
music and the smell is what
drew me in.
• It was like entering a club.
There was loud
house/techno music
playing and a strong scent
of cologne.
• Okay fine, the large
advertisement of the hot
guy also drew me in.
6. • Their clothing line is very
preppy and their
demographic is high school
students.
• The clothes remind me of a
modern version of
prep/private school uniforms.
• The salespeople are wearing
the clothes they are selling in
the store. One of them told
me they have to buy the
clothes.
7. • On my way out, I heard a salesman at the
door asking attractive female customers if
they would like to work there or if they have
any attractive friends that would like to work
there.
• This is the only clothing store that I have
been to where the salespeople would ask
that on your way out.
8. Target
• The first thing I noticed
about their entrance
are the big red balls
cemented to the
ground.
• I think it’s funny when
children try to move
the ball.
9. • The only music I
hear at Target is the
sound of children
screaming and
grocery carts being
pushed down the
aisles.
10. • I love that they have price
checkers throughout the
store. It especially comes in
handy when a salesperson
is not around.
• I can spend hours at Target
because they have
everything from produce,
to clothing, to beauty
products. It is definitely a
one stop shop.
11. Trader Joe’s
• Don’t you just love it
when grocery stores have
a sampling booth? I
know I do. What a great
way to promote
new/seasonal items.
• The sampling booth is
located in the back of the
store. Tasting the
different samples helps
me decide to purchase or
not purchase an item.
12. • Most of their food
items are store brand.
Sometimes people
assume store brand
items are bad quality.
• That is not the case at
Trader Joe’s because
their store brand items
are very tasty.
13. • That’s right, they have
shopping carts for
children. What a
terrific way for them
to enjoy their grocery
shopping experience
with their parents.
14. Ulta
• There is a salon in the
store, which is really
convenient because
you can get a hair cut
or even a makeup
consultation and then
shop around for beauty
products.
15. • Everything is easy to
find because they have
a very unique way of
organizing their
products. For example,
they have a lip bar, eye
bar, blush bar, as well
as a color library.
16. • At the cash register, they have beauty
products on the go.
• Just when you are waiting in line to purchase
a big version of something, you may be
contemplating if you should purchase a mini
version of that same product to carry around
in your purse. That’s genius!
17. Forever 21
• All the clothing in this
store is organized by
color.
• The prices are very
inexpensive and it is
great for anyone who is
on a budget.
• They carry a lot of
designer knockoffs.
• Since their clothes are
inexpensive, you will not
feel bad if you rip or stain
your shirt.
18. • The salespeople are not helpful at all. If you
are looking for something specific, they will
not know where it is, nor will they suggest
anything similar.
• I noticed that they do not have a return
policy, only an exchange policy. That’s how
they make their money. Once you purchase
something, the money is in their pockets
permanently.
19. • I did not have the best luck with taking
photos because the stores I observed did not
allow it. Instead, I decided to use photos I
found online that are very similar to my
observations and insights.
