- There are only two compliance approaches available for SWH: Prescriptive and ECB. The Simplified Mechanical Approach does not require that the Mandatory Provisions be met.
- CDD50 = for any one day, when the mean temperature is > 50F, there are as many degree-days as degrees F temperature difference between mean temperature and 50F. Annual cooling degree days (CDD) are the sum of the degree-days over a calendar year. HDD65 = for any one day, when the temperature is < 65F, there are as many degree-days as degrees F temperature difference between mean temperature and 65. Annual heating degree-days (HDD) are the sum of the degree-days over a calendar year. Appendix D includes only those locations in ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals Standard does not provide guidance on what is “closest”
