About the Conclave
India is gearing up and is best positioned to address the world’s demand in the
coming years. The focus rightly on skill development and access to social security,
it is bound to propel the opportune environment for job generation in our country.
India Inc has always shared indicators to the perennial problem of lack of
employment pportunities and underemployment of educated masses.
Interestingly, during contemporary times the tide is reversed and industry is not
finding ‘employable work force’. The term has also gained currency in the Indian
policy circles with politicians and functionaries in the industry airing similar views.
In the context of emerging flexible labour market, lifelong employment is
receding. Technological and rapid product/service changes requires individuals
with ability to adapt. The employability practices in India are focused on
depositing skill sets in individuals, but lack the bridge to be attuned towards being
employable. The social security on the other hand, additionally adds to the woes
of the working mass. The cumbersomeness of the process to educate, understand
and implement has somehow not being in sync. Some such gaping issues are
creating the obstacles and impacting employability and employment scenario
directly!
This event aims to focus beyond flexible labor markets onto assessment of proper
enforcement of the laws, assessment of the situation of different categories of
employers and coverage of the social protection system
