5. Step Two
Teacher’s turn
• Teacher provides spelling patterns
for the ending sound.
• For example: ack, ale, ail
• These spelling patterns is to be
blended with the beginning letter
cards.
6. Step 3
How to generate words from learners?
• Pupils will combine their beginning letter cards with
the spelling patterns.
• For example:
• Teacher will explain if nonsense words were
generated.

9. My Suggestions
• To save time, learners can be taught to make a mini
flip book.
• A small notebook with ring binder cut into half in
landscape orientation.
• On the left side, we write the beginning letter cards
items.
• On the right side, we write the spelling patterns.
• Learners will flip the left side of the book and write
down the words.
