ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
Wellsite geologists are required in Tanzania/Mozambique/Faroe Islands/Norway.
Objectives of the function:
To contribute to safe, correct and cost efficient operations and that all wellsite related geological work is
performed in accordance with acts, regulations, and internal requirements and best practice routines.
Responsibilities and duties
Supervise and follow up HSE matters on the rig
Perform pore pressure evaluation in accordance with given requirements
Ensure data acquisition program is performed according to plan
Supervise service companies related to data acquisition
Keep the Operations Geologist continuously posted about the geological work, and ensure that all non-
conformances are immediately discussed with the Operations Geologist, and properly documented
Prepare preliminary interpretations based on logging data and samples and contribute to the final
geological well products
Have close dialogue with the drilling superintendent and the service companies on board, and
immediately inform the Drilling Supervisor about changes in the geology and the pore pressure,
registration of hydrocarbons and other matters that may influence the data acquisition and/or the safety
Prepare and update the trip risk log
Ascertain that confidential information are handled according to Statoil’s security routines, and also that
the geologist’s office at the installation complies with the security regulations
The following products shall be finalized by the Wellsite Geologist after each well section:
Sample descriptions / Side Wall Cores descriptions / Core descriptions
Coring Data Sheet
Shows evaluation
Section Reports
A complete Well site Geologists Log (WGL/BHG-log), with comments and pressure evaluation
2. Work percent: 100%
Workplace:
Work locations will be offshore in Tanzania, Mozambique, Faroe Islands, and/or Norway. Personnel will
be assigned to each location according to Company’s needs
The assignment may require shorter periods of onshore work in each location, e.g. in relation to work
preparation meetings.
Rotation: 3-3 or 4-4 (outside Norway) or 2-3 (Norway), depending on location
COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with:
Pore pressure and hole stability evaluation
Follow up and reporting of exploration wells
HPHT and Deep Water wells preferred
Software knowledge for Wellsite Geology:
Winlog
Predict
DBR
UNIX/ Open Works
Due to the complexity of the wells it is desired that the candidates should have minimum 5 years’
experience as wellsite geologists. Candidates with previous experience from Company operated wells will
be preferred.

Strong customer focus and ability to understand customer needs
Good oral and written presentation skills in English
Flexibility in terms of working offshore, in Norway and Internationally
