APM Webinar presented by Beth Gallichan on 6 April 2021 and hosted by the APM Channel Isles Group (Wessex Branch). Durrell’s Go Wild Gorillas campaign captured the hearts of Islanders and visitors to Jersey and raised significant funds to help Durrell build a new enclosure for the zoo’s much-loved gorillas. Hear from the team behind the project on how they delivered such a successful campaign, the fundraising challenges faced in the time of COVID-19, and how the lessons learned influenced Durrell’s My Nature Watch project.

24. My Naturewatch
In 2021 the Durrell Team are launching an exciting project that aims to connect
young people to nature as well as reach out to groups and individuals to take part.
In collaboration with the Royal College of Art’s My Nature Watch programme,
young people will be encouraged to build, programme and deploy home-made
‘camera traps’ to photograph and develop insights into wildlife, land and
seascapes.
25. Technology + Nature
We will provide these camera trap kits to local secondary schools and youth
groups to run a large-scale and unique island-wide photography competition
throughout 2021.
• A wildlife Camera you can make yourself
• Automatically takes pictures when it sees movement
• Leave camera outside to capture the beauty of nature around us
• Connects with smartphone or computer to view images
• Easy to follow recipe to build your own
