8. Plasmodium knowlesi
• Cinquième principale cause de l’infection du paludisme
•Infection émergente
•Transmis par un complexe d’Anopheles leucophyrus
•Présente dans les pays d’Asie du sud-est
•Génétiquement proche de Plasmodium ovale et
microscopique ment proche de Plasmodium malariae
9. Plasmodium knowlesi
•Multiplication rapide dans le sang/24h (cycle asexué)
•Manifestations cliniques : accès simple , grave voir mortel
•Le diagnostic se fait par la microscopie mais la PCR permet
de faire la difference
•Protéine C réactive élevée associée à une thrombopénie au
laboratoire
•Sensible à la Chloroquine et à la méfloquine
