As indicated by many of the presentations at this conferences (not least Wednesday’s keynote speech), the idea of communities of practice is gaining acceptance as a useful and helpful way of describing emerging learning within groups of people with common interests in a way that is inclusive and nurturing. As part of the practice education facilitation programme currently running for AHPs and the already well established initiative for nursing and midwifery within NHS Scotland, a “Shared Space” was established to support this community of practitioners who are spread to all corners of Scotland. There have been some victories and numerous challenges in implementing this virtual workspace and it is these that I would like to share with you today.
