The most basic and simple ones are those antonyms that are strictlyopposites such as yes - no, black - white, and up - down. Then there are those antonyms that are opposites but leave room for error according to usage. Well, let's use an example to illustrate. Take the word 'right.' It's antonymis left, right? No, it's wrong! Yes, that's right! No, it's left! Do you see what I'm getting at? The most basic and simple ones are those antonyms that are strictlyopposites such as yes - no, black - white, and up - down. Then there are those antonyms that are opposites but leave room for error according to usage.
Well, let's use an example to illustrate. Take the word 'right.' It's antonymis left, right? No, it's wrong! Yes, that's right! No, it's left! Do you see what I'm getting at?So, depending on the situation and the circumstance in the which the antonym is to be used, there may be more than one possible way to answer the question as to what are antonyms?
Graded antonyms: These pairs of antonyms can be explained with reference to a continuum or scale. For example, let us look at the word  – good. Now, the antonym for good would be bad but then, the word good could be placed on a scale and this could throw up several possible antonyms such as satisfactory, fair, incredible, appalling and so on. Complimentary antonyms: These pairs of words represent the only two opposite possibilities and there is no middle ground or  scale that is involved between the two words. Such antonyms include: true – false dead – alive day – night male – female
Antonyms are word pairs that are opposite in meaning, such as hot and cold, blackand white, and in and out. Words may have different antonyms, depending on their meaning for example, both long and tall are antonyms of short.
Pairs of graded antonyms belong on a scale. For example, good and bad are antonyms. However, if an essay, say, is not good, that does not mean it is bad. There is a whole scale including appalling, terrible, bad, poor, satisfactory, fair, good, excellent, incredible, etc. Pairs of relational antonyms are often considered as a third type. However, they are really a subcategory of complementary antonyms. In this type of antonymy, there is a relationship in which the two opposites must both exist. For example, if someone is selling, there must be someone buying. Relational antonyms describe the same situation from opposite sides. Here are 16 examples:
referred to as antonyms. For example, the antonym of hot is cold.  Some words can have more than one antonym, depending on the context in which the same word is used. For instance, the word short could have the antonyms, long and tall.  that the words chosen are the correct opposites of that particular word. s means that for one to get the correct antonym, they have to consider the meaning and the usage of the word. A list of the various antonyms can be found in a thesaurus. While using the antonyms, make sure Thi
