on economy , ecological resources , food
shortage , starvation of millions of people
etc.,
FLOODS : Nearly 1/5th of the global
death count is due to floods
VOLCANIC ERRUPTIONS :
causes changes in composition of air , hot
springs , earth teremer precedes volcanic
erupptions.

• Discipline dealing with and avoiding risks
• Involves preparing, supporting, and rebuilding
society when natural or man made disasters occur
• Continuous process by which all individuals, groups,
and communities manage hazards in an effort to
avoid the impact of disasters

mitigate the effects of natural & man
RESPONSE: It includes the mobilization of
emergency services
RECOVERY: Its aim is to restore the affected area
to its previous state
