Bob Powell
President and Chief Executive Officer
Bob is an energy industry veteran, having served as CFO at Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s utility,
where he completed long and short-term financings in addition to executing power purchase con-
tracts in the solar, wind, and biomass sectors. Before that, he was a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoo-
pers LLP’s national energy practice, and a partner at Arthur Andersen LLP’s worldwide energy and
communications practice. He holds engineering undergraduate degree and a management graduate
degree, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Phil Henson
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Phil has over 20 years of experience in energy and natural resources finance. He previously was the
co-head of the Power and Utilities Group of XL Capital Assurance, Inc. (XLCA) He’s held management
roles with ING, UBS, and holds graduate degrees from Georgetown University and Chicago Graduate
School of Business.
Hugh Kuhn
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Hugh is an early-industry leader with more than 25 years of business and engineering experience. He
held positions with Hewlett-Packard and Pacific Gas & Electric Company, where he developed energy
conservation, load shifting, and cogeneration strategies for commercial and industrial customers.
Hugh holds a BS in Environmental Earth Sciences from Stanford University and an MS in Mechanical
Engineering from Colorado State University.
Todd Michaels
Senior Vice President, Project Development and Marketing
Todd is responsible for SPP’s track history of completed projects. He spent several years with AT&T
Communications, SBC Communications, and BBN Planet/GTE Network Services, bridging the gap
between the lab, market, and end user. He is active in The Solar Alliance, CALSEIA, BOMA
International, US Green Building Council, and the Construction Specification Institute (CSI). Todd
holds a BS in Computer Information Systems from Indiana University (cum laude).
Shakil Rahman
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Shakil has over twenty years as both in-house and external counsel, specializing in project finance
and energy. He was a Principal and General Counsel of Sapphire Power Partners, where he pro-
vided project development, regulatory, and legal consulting services to owners as well as devel-
oping photovoltaic utility scale projects, and VP and General Counsel for Delta Power Company.
He practiced as an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, and expatriate legal
counsel for Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Ltd. He holds an AB in English from Cornell University,
and a JD from State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Law.
