Inherited an Org with 30 users
Out of 110 employees in the company.
Sparsely used across the organization
User only by the Sales team in one (out of two) divisions, and by customer service for this one division.
Low adoption levels
Sales users logged in to record opportunities only when they were won, reports were generated manually
and outside of Salesforce in MS Excel.
Zero knowledge of the platform

14. Starting to fix things
Start with the obvious things
 Work with Sales leaders to generate reports from Salesforce
 If it’s not in Salesforce it doesn’t exist
 Leader dashboard
 Bringing the second division into Salesforce
a.k.a What did I get myself into?

Pick a process, any process
Identify an area where the organization is having a hard time tracking
or managing performance
Diagram, Plan, Build
Figure out the current process, decide what is needed, and get it done
Present and Wow
Presenting an almost finished solution gets people excited.
Repeat
When the real fun begins

16. Asking the right questions
Don’t ask “How?”, ask “What?
Avoid asking your users how they want things done. Instead ask them what they are trying to achieve.
Who is involved in this process?
Make sure you start by getting input from everyone that will use your new tools
What information is really needed?
We have the tendency to think we need to collect more information
than we actually do. Generalize where possible.
When do you need this?
Prioritizing your projects will ensure you are able to deliver the important
things first
Avoid repeating past mistakes

 As a Salesforce Administrator you have tons of tools
 You have the power to be a driver for change
 Let Salesforce thrust greatness upon you
 Look for places where you can make a difference
 Ask the right questions and take other’s demands
with a grain of salt (and a spoonful of sugar)
