3. What is Herniated Disc?
A herniated disc is a problem with one of the
rubbery cushions (disks) between the individual
bones (vertebrae) that stack up to make your
spine. A spinal disc is a little like a jelly donut, with
a softer center encased within a tougher exterior.

When the outer ring becomes weak or torn and allows
the inner portion to slip out.
A disk can slip out of place while you are twisting or
turning to lift an object.
Lifting a very large, heavy object can place great strain
on the lower back, resulting in a slipped disk.

Pain and numbness, most commonly on one side of
the body
Pain that worsens at night or with certain movements
Pain that worsens after standing or sitting

It is a health care profession dedicated to the non-
surgical treatment of disorders of the nervous system
and/or musculoskeletal system. It usually involves
treatment of common lower back pain condition
through manual therapy. This treatment applied with
the goal of improving functionality and reducing nerve
irritability.

9. Medications
Medications may also help reduce the pain from a
herniated disc, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs (NSAIDs) can reduce the inflammation caused
by the disc herniation.
10. Epidural Steroid Injections
Either oral steroid medication or an epidural injection
may achieve a stronger anti-inflammatory effect,
although their use is a little riskier. Approximately 50%
of the time, it will provide pain relief that may last
from one week up to one year.
